I have a much younger first cousin and she's wondering what my LO will call her. "First cousin once removed" is way too long and formal (imo) to say everyday. Maybe we'll stick to auntie?

I think my mom called them "Auntie" but I am not close to any of mine so I'm not sure.

Probably just their names. My one cousin has her kids call us Aunt and Uncle but the other ones don't.

I think they'd technically be second cousins? My cousin's kids are just my cousins to me.

my cousin who we grew up like sisters just had a baby and she's my godchild and she'll probably call me Aunt Stephanie but i wouldn't be bothered if she called me Cousin Stephanie

Cousins are cousins, whether they are removed or not! I just call all my cousins (first, second, first removed, etc) by their names, so my kids will do the same.

Either just their name or Cousin Name. For some reason we usually say cousin in front of the name in my family.

My LO will call my cousins aunt & uncle, even if they are close in age.
I think some people have misread the question -
I'd call them by their name. We just consider everyone cousins, regardless of generations. I can never keep the rest of the rules straight.

Cousin, regardless of age. I have cousins from age 90+ down to newborn! Aunts are my parents' sisters only.

@Revel: Pretty much the same here. They're all just cousins. I don't even know what this once-twice-whatever removed business is.

My kids call my cousins aunts and uncles, and they call my cousins kids their cousins. I don't know what I would do if they were actually closer in age though.

I can never remember what makes it "once removed" so I'd probably just go with cousin and call her by her first name.

I've always just called my cousins (whether they are first or second cousins), by their names...LO will most likely too!

Just by their name. A has 9 real aunts and 8 real uncles so no one else is getting that title.

My cousins kids call me by my first name and my LO will call my cousins by their first names. Doesn't matter how many times they are removed. And pretty much I just refer to them all as cousins.

My cousins' kids generally call me Cousin ___ or Aunt _____. I would be fine with them just calling me by my name, but their parents generally want them to use some title to be more respectful to adults.

@blackbird: @MediaNaranja: @MaisyMay: @Sweet T: I didn't know what it was called at first until my cousin kept asking, so I had to look it up.
Once-removed is about the generation. So my parent's sibling's kids are my first cousins. But the kids of my cousins are my cousin's once-removed. If I had an older cousin that had a baby at a young age and in turn had a baby of her own, that baby would be my cousin twice-removed.
As for my own younger cousin, my DD and her are cousins once-removed. But when/if she has any kids, our kids would be 2nd cousins.

My first cousins once removed call me by my name. So do DH's. but he has at least one first cousin he calls "aunt" bc she's so much older.
