I had allergies when I was little... I don't remember when I was 1.5 years old what happened. I believe my parents actually didn't catch that I had allergies till I was 4. I remember they did a big test on my back... lots of needles pricking my back... and I was so come back a day or week later to see how that area of my back reacted.

That was only once... then my follow up ones I got this weird block of needle pricks on one of my arms.... they were pretty close together with maybe like 30 small needles pricking a small square area of my arm and I was to come back.. the next day or a week to see how that worked out.

I think what's also weird about me... or maybe it's just a growing up thing... but my food allergies changed every few years but my outside allergies stayed the same.

The last time I tested was in college though.

@Adira: Oh yeah I'm old maybe a simple blood test is what they do now?

I think for my allergy test for college it was just a blood test.

Hopefully that is all it is. Though holding your LO down for a blood draw sucks! We had to do it for LO's 2 year appointment and he was not a happy camper. Luckily the blood place had some juice (very sweet juice) and gave it to him afterwards and he was okay after that.

You don't realize how thin your kid's arms are until you have to hold them down for getting a blood draw!

@Adira: Haha. Good plan! I'm usually always the bad guy. Though the blood draw thing DH had to help hold him down because the little guy is stronger than he looks! Though it could be us too... we weren't using all our strength because we were scared of hurting him.

Ours tested again, and her allergies went away. They first did the back scratch test and then for the ones they did a blood test to see how sever. Once they got those numbers back and ours were low enough they did an in the office test giving her different amounts every 15 minutes to watch her reaction (ours was peanut butter.)
