Everything was a worthwhile read, but I didn't enjoy Where'd You Go Bernadette like most people did.

I'm reading one called Deerskin by Robin McKinley.

I just finished the Selection trilogy after some bees were talking about it.

I just finished dark places and sharp objects (flinn). They were...... Messed up. Lol. Compelling reads but not my fav.

Currently reading Beauty Queens (bray). I'm having a hard time getting into it. It's pretty heavy handed on the satire.

I am currently reading The Well's End by Seth Fishman and then will move on to Americannah by Chimamandah Ngozi Adichie.

Right now I'm re-reading the His Dark Materials series (Golden Compass, etc.), because its been yearssss and I felt like going a little old-school. I'm almost finished though, so looking for suggestions on what to read next!

@GrapeCrush: you might like wonder if you liked eleanor and park. i think both books are technically ya, but still fun reads.

For historical fiction that has a supernatural bent, I LOVE the All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness. I haven't read the final one yet (just came out this summer and I want to re-read the first two first). So excited!

A friend from college wrote a historical fiction book - Jinn by Mathew B. J. Delaney. In that vein, I also enjoyed The Physician by Noah Gordon (1st in a trilogy).

I do love YA series, and am currently in the midst of (and loving) the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare (City of Bones is the first one - the movie was terrible, but the books are great).

I loved Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

I love James Patterson, Jeffrey Deaver, and Jonathan Kellerman for murder mystery / thrillers

I LOVE the Mitch Rapp books (1st one is American Assassin, there are 13 of them) by Vince Flynn (and was so sad to hear that he passed away in his mid-40s this past year, so young!)

Keith Ablow's forensic psych thrillers are really dark, but pretty good

Kathy Reichs' books and the books by Jefferson Bass (forensic osteology / bones murder mystery fiction) are great

@.Twist. It's pretty good! Not as great as Stardust or Sandman, but much better than American Gods. If you really liked Stardust, it might be best to read Coraline next.

@ballerinabee: thanks Yeah, I reread the first two, too, to get back into it! I'm almost finished now but I'm savoring the last few chapters! It's a little bit all over the place, but still a satisfying end. Hope you like it!

@Skadi: Thanks for the recommendation! I own american gods I just haven't read it yet. It's not great? LOVE sandman, btw! Nice to have a fellow Neil Gaiman fan.

I just finished reading South of the Border, West of the Sun - so good! The next book I'm going to read is The Name of the Wind.

It's a fiction, but it's based off the Gaza/Israel conflict. So interesting!

@AmandaB8: I love Steve Berry's books. If you like those, you would probably also like James Rollins. He has some that are a series (the Sigma series) and some that are standalones. Good stuff.

@JerricaBenton: I know what you mean about savoring the last few chapters; I love/hate it when a great book or series ends and leaves me wanting more!

@.Twist. Lots of people like American Gods...I liked the premise, but I just couldn't get into the characters!

I just finished The Big Lie: Motherhood, Feminism, and the Reality of the Biological Clock (which was a fascinating, if depressing, read).

I made a trip to the library today and have just started All Joy and No Fun: The Paradox of Modern Parenthood.
