I love reading to our LO. He is so calm and still when DH or I read to him. He is fascinated and knows our voices are special reading voices, but he doesn't look at the book yet (7 weeks old).

She's almost a year so it's hard to get through a whole book. She prefers to turn the pages herself at her own speed and eat the book.

I started reading to my LO immediately and ever since, he knows that our books mean 'bedtime' and snuggles next to me in bed and smiles at the pages. When I'm finished reading, he turns his head in either to nurse or suck his thumb and usually falls asleep, lol.

same as @artbee: Liv will be a year old on the 22nd and She loves to turn the pages, but she will point to things and go "huh?" or point to birds and say "buh" and point to the dog (in the book) and say "ah-boooo." Our dog's name is Brutus, and she calls him ah-booo so now any time she sees a dog she goes "AH-BOO!!!!" lol. We bought a bunch of textured board books, she is better with those because they distract her a bit.

My LO is 5.5 months and she kicks like crazy as soon as I pull the books out. She doesn't let me get through much because she usually knocks it out of my hand after the first couple of pages because she's so excited.

DD is 2 so we spend a lot of time reading. She's always had a pretty good attention span for it so we've always been big on reading. I've been trying to ask her more "critical thinking" questions after reading Mrs. Cowgirl's blog posts!
