I guess I took the question to mean that I should calculate using my current mortgage, current debt and current child care situation. I didn't include any savings or retirement. Just the basics as they relate to our current life. Sure I could quit my job, sell my house and take the kids out of school, but I didn't think that was the question.

We could survive just fine on $20k, possibly less. We have done it, it's not fun but it is doable where we are at.
