The elementary school in our town is 8:50-3:30. Such a late start in my opinion. I've seen the bus come by our neighborhood at 7 (assuming for high school, starts at 8-2:20 or middle school that starts at 7:50-2:10) and a bus that came by at 8:20. (assuming for the elementary school)

A schools are 8:35
B schools are 8:50
C schools are 9:05DS goes to an A school
Not sure why they stagger

Ours starts at 8:30.
Monday, Tuesday and Friday it ends at 4.
Wednesday it ends at noon.
Thursday it ends at 3:30.
It's going to take some juggling to do school and daycare pickup this fall! -

The one we are currently zoned for doesn't start til 920! They have the buses do 2 runs and our school is in the later one. It's so late! They do some optional morning programming (Spanish etc) but still!

@KayKay: Man, how do people get to work on time?! I was shocked at 8:50 but then saw the school bus on our street at 8:20 and thought, ok that's doable.

I think our public school is 8:40 - 3. We go to private school and it's 8:25 - 2.

@winniebee: most of the families I know either have one parent (mom) stay home. Or hire a morning nanny to get the kids to school (and after). Or the parents stagger work schedules so one starts later and one is done by 4. I mean, I guess no school day is exactly a work day anyways, but it seems weird to have lots of extra time in the morning.

The school LO will go to is 8:05-2:10. They have before and after care as well. We will hopefully only need after care.

We live in a city with 12 elementary schools. They have 4 different start times. 7:45, 7:55, 8:25, and 8:55. Not sure why they do it that way. Plus two of them have extended day schedules.

8:30-3:30 here. And my middle school is 8:00-2:50pm--they stagger on purpose so they can share busses (small town).

@Mamaof2: @KayKay: oh yeah I know what people do I was just kinda joking! I remember school being 7:30 - 2:30. At least that way, parents only have to get after care if needed! I'm hoping we'll just get by with an after school sitter / nanny.

K-5 is 8:50-3:08. Bus would pick up around 8:15am.

Half of them start at 8:15am and half at 8:50am. I'm assuming it has to do with buses being able to drive routes for both start times (vs having twice as many buses).

8:00 - 3:00 with extended day program at the school until 6:00. The cafeteria is open starting at 7:20 in the morning for early arrivers. It's not specifically before care, but they can eat their breakfast and there is supervision.

there's 12 elementary schools in our district. 6 start at 8:30 and the other six at 9:02.

Ours is 8:45-3:45, but different schools have different start times because our county is so large. Elementary is on the later side, high school earlier. I wish they would switch it around and let the high schoolers sleep in, but it probably won't ever happen.

How do you even find this out? I tried checking on the school website. My neighbor has told me before but I forgot!

DD is only in Pre-k, but it's part of a school through 8th, and they start at 8:30. It feels SO early because we have to leave pretty early: we have a 30 minute drive, have to find parking on our designated side of the building, in a crowded neighborhood with another 2 elementary schools in the same neighborhood, and if we don't walk her in by the first bell at 8:25, we get a teacher guilt trip!

DD is in kindergarten and she goes 7:45-2:45. I walk her to school at 7:25 and they have to be in seats by 7:45. The walkers are dismissed last, and she tends to leave the building by 7:50 or so.

8am, but the bus picks them up before 7! I'm an early riser, but that's crazy early to put a Kindergartner on a bus, in my opinion.

There are AM or PM schedules for Kindergarten. They only do half day Kindergartens in our district.
AM: 8:00-11:20 am
PM: 11:30-2:50 pm -
Elementary 9-4
Middle school 8-3
High school 7-2Staggered because they all use the same buses.

Our primary school is 8:45 - 3:15. No bus service, other than for children with special needs, so most schools in our area start at the same time.

Most of them start between 8:20-8:30am. That's elementary. I don't feel like researching middle or high right now. There are so many options for elementary, my head wants to explode already.

They start late! 9:15-3:45. Since we live so close to the elementary school, I see the buses come around just before 9! That would actually work for dh's work schedule, though.
The high school goes from 7:15-2:15. Not sure about the middle school.
