We are having LO's birthday party next weekend and we are having a taco bar! It will have 3 choices of meat and everything you could possibly want in a taco, plus chips and salsa. Then of course cupcakes for dessert. I'm excited!
What did you have for your LO's birthday party meal/snacks?

Our moms made most of the food.
We had:
-panko fried ckn tenders
-bulgogi
-asparagus
-grilled potatoes
-asian slaw salad
-steamed rice
-meatballs
-jap chae (korean vermicelli noodle dish)
-fruit/veggie trays
-chips/salsa
-desserts: cookies, cake, brownies, etc.

The theme was strawberries so we had:
-fruit salad
-veggie cups with spinach dip
-chicken salad on croissants
-pbj (strawberry jelly and cut into the shape of strawberries)
-chips & guacamole
-cheesecake-stuffed strawberries

-Abita strawberry beer

Taco bar sounds awesome! We had pizza, pasta, salad, hot cocoa bar and desserts table.

We had the party at 1pm and served:
-Homemade chicken salad
-Croissants
-Quinoa greek salad
-veggie and hummus platter
-Chips and salsa
-Fruit kabobs
-Sugar cookies
-White chocolate covered pretzels
-Cake!
-Soda, iced tea, champagne punch, beer
It was the perfect amount/ variety of food!

We had a chili bar (chili, chips, hot dogs, cheese, onion, etc.) and a carmel apple bar with all sorts of toppings to sprinkle on, a veggie tray and cake.

DD - Had it at Fogo de Chao. open bar + brazilian BBQ. Vanilla cake with strawberry cream cheese filling.
DS - Catered food and had it in our apt building's cllub room. Omelette station, waffle station, individual quiche + potatoes, cobb salad, tuscan sandwiches, grits with shrimp and sausage, various pastries. Chocolate cake with vanilla cream cheese filling.

We did brunch:
Bacon quiche, lobster quiche, hashbrown casserole, ham, egg & cheese casserole, fruit salad, festive salad, coffee cake, donut holes, fizzy orange drink and cupcakes !

We are planning on afternoon tea starting at 2pm: tea sandwiches, scones with jam and clotted cream, hot tea, sparkling rosé, lemonade for the kids. Then after the music guy entertains the kids, we will have cake at 3:30.
We are hosting at our apartment, so if there are still people hanging out by 5pm then we will order pizza.

We had planned a themed menu but we had a crazy snowstorm the day of. We knew half the people invited wouldn't be able to make it so we just grabbed some pizzas and chips to save money and time.

We did brunch for both kids first birthdays
J had quiche, sausage, croissants and muffins, berry/yogurt parfaits with granola on the side, fruit and veggie platters and cookies. And birthday cake.
For L's party we did a waffle bar with all the fixings (this was so much fun! We had 3 irons going at once and it moved perfectly), sausage, berry yogurt parfaits with granola on the side, fruit, a veggie pizza and cookies. And birthday cake.

I've done a lot of parties in the past year and a half! We've done the following:
-Summer BBQ with a lot of sausages and chicken on the grill. Plus many salads and sides
- Taco bar with all of the fixings plus refried beans, rice, and corn casserole
- Italian feast with 2 types of lasagna, baked ziti and other gluten free/dairy free pasta and sauce options. Plus garlic bread and salad
- Baked potato and chili bar
- brunch shower with mini crustless quiches, carved ham sandwiches on fresh biscuits, baked french toast, heart shaped bacon.
- lunch shower with beef tenderloin sliced for sandwiches, spinach salad, sauteed green beans with bacon, and roasted potatoes
Each of the parties also had random appetizers and I've started to make my own cakes and decorate with fondant. I love to cook and am a glutton for punishment so I tend to cater my own parties. I think that will probably change now that DS2 is going to make his appearance in a few months!

We catered Korean food both times:

- Korean sushi rolls (kimbap)

- Milk and juice for the kids
- Soda, water, and beer for the adults

We had ours at lunchtime and we had BBQ catered. Pulled pork and chicken with buns, potato salad, baked beans, chips, fruit salad, and applesauce pouches for the little ones. Drinks were just bottled water and cans of lemonade.
There was hot apple cider bar with whipped cream, caramel sauce, and cinnamon. Dessert was chocolate and vanilla cupcakes decorated like apples, and the favors were caramel apples. (The theme was "apple of my eye.")
Most of the kids' birthday parties I have been to are not at lunchtime though and they just have snacks and desserts. We did lunch because we had folks traveling from out of town.
