I read elsewhere today on HB that breastfed babies cap out at a certain number of oz from a bottle. Something to do with the fat content in breastmilk adapting to baby's needs. I'm curious what's the most your BF baby has taken from a bottle? R seems like he will drink whatever is offered and the most I have offered is 7 oz but he will drink 5 no problem. He's almost 7 months and He gets a bottle a day but I just give him whatever I pump.

We only make 3.5 ounce bottles for daycare.

She did 5 oz once, but usually <3oz. She almost never takes a little though.

@winniebee: lol We pre make the bottles for daycare so I've never tested to see if she'll drink more! But I think 3.5 is all she "needs".

5 oz when no distractions (so at home, or in the AM at daycare which seems to be quieter than the afternoons). 3-3.5 oz in public or at daycare in the afternoon when distractions are abundant.

At 7 months (so probably peak milk quantity before solids really start to offset), the most E has taken is 7oz. But usually it's more like 4-5ish. I was just away from her for a week, and each day she averaged about 24-25oz total over 5 feedings.

He's only two months old, but 3.5 oz.

DD never drank more than probably 4 oz from a bottle. I rarely ever had to use our larger bottles and was able to build up a gigantic freezer stash.
DS always wanted more and I never had enough...he would take 6 oz or more on occasion. Some babies at daycare take 8 oz. and it is shocking to me that a baby could ever take that much just because mine never did.

@KayKay: so interesting. I've not been away a full day from him since he was 3m and then he would drink 4 is every 3 hours.
He eats once overnight so usually 7 feeds in 24 hours. I'm guessing he drinks more like 28 oz a day but who really knows.

@winniebee: I was planning for 30oz a day (worst case) and told my mom to expect 28ish. But she was pretty consistent with 25ish and still slept through the night so it must've been fine! Maybe she is getting more from solids than I realize!

Two days a week I EP because of my long work hours and J takes 5 oz bottles (6 of them). That being said, I think he would drink just about as much as he was offered. Dude's a big eater.

6 months old and get 7 oz bottles

The most LO1 took from a bottle was 5 oz, and he had bottles until he was 13 months.

DS got up to 7oz for a while, but once he got good at solids, that stopped. Now he won't take a bottle at all!

He took 5oz for a little while, but it was mostly 4-4.5 oz.

4 oz every 2 hours.

I nursed all day and then a bottle of pumped milk before bed. It was 6-7 ounces after about 8 months I think.
In the day if he had a bottle if I was gone, it was about 3-4 ounces.

K drinks 5 oz bottles. That's the most we've tried giving her, but every time we've increased the size she continues to have no problem finishing them.

Both my LOs were EBFed and would take 7 or 8 oz bottles. We fed on demand and they dropped to 4 feeds a day (so it made sense they drank more).

At 7 months We give 5 oz. bottles, sometimes he'll only drink 4. Haven't ever tried giving more .

5 oz sometimes a little more but not usually.

LO is 3 months old, we nurse all day/night with one bottle of pumped milk in the evening before she goes to bed. That one pumped bottle she'll usually eat about 4 oz, never more than 5.
