Eek yeah that might be an issue...especially if I had a race to get to...I would need a place where I could comfortably and privately go.

I grew up in a family of 7 in a 2 bathroom house, and we'd vacation with about 20 people in a 2 bathroom house (with a guy who has IBS).

Having the toilet available shouldn't be an issue as long as there are two (it almost never was for my family). The chances of having two people in the bathrooms at the same time, for a long time, while someone else desperately needs it, are slim. It's the showering/bathing schedules that get complicated!

@artbee: Ah I wish my area had that! The only options in Dallas are the 5k and an 8 mile. One year I (stupidly) ran the 5k and then was the host for Thanksgiving for my whole family. It was absolutely exhausting!

My parents house is 6 bedrooms but 2.5 bathrooms (not counting a 1/2 bath in the finished basement). Around the holidays, we have 8 adults, 2 toddlers (potty trained), and 2 babies in the house! I can't imagine not staying there, but I have to admit the showering situation is a little tight!

We're going to my parents house, and they only have one bathroom. That's four adults and two kids with one bathroom... I think I'll be bringing DD's potty chair!

@artbee: Yeah, I would want my own bed and my own bathroom in that case. Could you take 2 cars so one of you heads over early and the other one stays until LO wakes up and heads over later after the race is done?

I agree with a lot of PP's, two is the magic number when it comes to bathrooms. For six years I lived in an apt with a full bath and an extra 1/2 bath and it was perfect for any size gathering or sleepover. It's a pain when a lot of people need to shower in the morning, but as long as people have access to a toilet everyone's comfortable. We made a huge sacrifice by buying a 1 bath apartment and the difference is very noticeable without that extra 1/2 bath.
