When did you have your first ultrasound? I have my first appointment at 8 weeks, and the admin said I wouldn't have an exam at that point. So I assume that means no ultrasound? My second appointment is at 12 weeks, and I feel like that's late for a first ultrasound, right?

It really depends. If there is no reason to worry, then that sounds totally normal.
My OB office does a dating ultrasound if you are unsure of your dates around 8 weeks.
There is the NT scan done between 11 and 13 weeks that includes an ultrasound if you opt for that.

I had mine between 7-8 weeks. They call it the dating ultrasound. Then between 12-13 weeks when they do the screening for Downs.
I think a lot of practices don't do an ultrasound until 12 weeks.

I had an ultrasound scheded for 8wks (dating) but it was pushed up to 6wks bc I had lots of bleeding/spotting/cramping and they wanted to check to see if everything was okay.

I had numerous ultrasounds because I was initially with an RE. When i was released to my OB, they did an u/s at my first appoint, at 9 weeks, to confirm the pregnancy. My next one will be at 12 weeks when I go for my NT scan, and my next OB appointment will be when I'm almost 14 weeks.

i think i am going to ask for a dating ultrasound, i don't want to wait until 12 weeks! especially since both of us are convinced we're having twins.

My OB always does an early dating ultrasound even if you are positive of the dates. They are done between 7-10 weeks, depending upon when you have your first appointment with him.

Same as @Mrs. J for me. I opted out of the earlier testing, so my first ultrasound is this week at 20 weeks.

With my first, around late 6, early 7. With this one, my first appointment was at 8 weeks, and we scheduled my ultrasound while I was there for 10 weeks. If it matters, first was with an OB, I'm now seeing a midwife.

7 weeks. I was referred by my RE. I have another ultrasound at 12 weeks, but I asked for it. They were not going to do another one until 20 weeks.

7w5d for me. My OB's office always does 8 an 20 week ultrasounds. 12 week is optional, and other ones may pop up if necessary (I had another at 24 weeks)

6 weeks, but that was because of a previous m/c. For my first pregnancy, I had it at 9 weeks.

5 wks, however, this was due to a previous ectopic. RE wanted to see that the sac was in the right place this time. 6 wks for a hb, then 10 wks to regular OB for general check up and dating u/s.
Hope your dr agrees to an u/s - I thought first appts included one for dating purposes and to make sure everything is ok.

8 weeks, but that wasn't standard at my practice. I had had a recent-ish miscarriage so it was a dating/viability scan (and a peace of mind scan, for us...I imagine she could tell how on-edge we both were). Otherwise I think the first scan would have been at the NT scan at 12 weeks.

I didn't get the option if an earlier scan than 12 weeks. Ill get one at 12 weeks and one at 20 weeks. That's the normal procedure here unless you have bleeding or previous miscarriage.

I had my first one at 7 weeks 3 days, that was because I had irregular periods so they wanted a dating scan, and also to make sure it was only one baby in there because my morning sickness was so bad.

I have my first ultrasound on Thursday. I'll be 8 weeks. From what I understand my practice has an 8 week dating, 12 week NT, and then 20 week anatomy.

Mine said I would have an exam at 8 weeks, so I assumed no ultrasound until 12. I was surprised then when they went ahead and did a dating ultrasound at the 8 week appointment.

I had an ultrasound at 7 weeks, but only because I was having some bleeding.

I had one at 7 weeks, but only because I was spotting. Otherwise, my first ultrasound would have been at 12 weeks, and only because I was doing the first trimester screening! If I had opted out of the screening, I wouldn't have gotten an ultrasound until 20 weeks when they do the anatomy scan!

mine was a dating U/S at 5 weeks because they thought i was 8/9 weeks due to my LMP. i had another a couple weeks later as a real dating U/S. my next and final was at 19 weeks for the anatomy scan.
