L is only 15 months, so I'm wanting to go for quite a while still, but I hear ya on the hotness!! We just had a quick 5-10 minute drive home on Sunday and she was burning up! I wonder if the bucketness of this huge convertible seat is just collecting all the warm air or something?

E is 23 months and I have no intention of turning him anytime soon. The crash test data and knowledge of a child's skeletal system is enough for me to keep him rear facing until he outgrows the limits of his seat.

Have you seen the noggle? It looks kind of goofy, but might help with getting good ventilation back to your LO's.

I know this seems obvious, but can you crack the window? I've been doing that with E and she's RF and I know she catches a breeze because I see her hair flying

My little dude is the only 3 year old I know that is still rf. he is the typical size I a 2 year old (29 pounds and 35 in). We have probably another inch in each carseat before going forward and will go that way. Heat has never been an issue and we live in the desert. Do you have a rear ac vent and is it open? We run ac even when we run heat because it dried out the air.

25 months old and still rear facing. I have seen the videos of the pros of rear facing and it's enough to convince me to keep him that way as long as possible.

@sorrycharlie: I would love to rf him as long as possible, but it just wasn't possible, plus I had the top tethered in my car so I had to lift him up and under the tether to wedge him in. I couldn't imagine switching him to rf now that he has been ff.

@matador84: & @beaker: My brother and SIL also FF all of their kids at 1. Their youngest is 13 months and she's been FF since her first birthday as well. We were just trying to hold off as long as we could, but I don't know how much longer that will be! My goal was 18 months, and we're at 19...my thought is that he would be far happier FF.

Still rear facing at 2. (28 months & 28lbs) prob switch at 30lbs.

We switched to FF around 20/21 months.

About 2.5 and still RF. We'll probably turn her around when she gets close to the weight limit.

We switched at 22 months. No reason really, just because.

E is FF at 22 months

Just in response to getting hot back there...LO runs hot and I'll open the front passenger side window. I think she actually gets more air than if I opened her window and it doesn't bother her sun shade. She loves the wind in her hair

Still RFing at 15 months. My sister recently made her 17 month old FF because they went to Hawaii and the car seat wouldn't fit in the car RF (or so she says). Her DD got used to FF.

Does anyone know if weight or age are more important? DS is 15.5 months, but 29 lbs. I see a lot of PPs mention they want to wait to RF until their LOs are 30 lbs.

We turned at 20 months. Her feet were climbing up the seat so it was time. MUCH happier child.

Dd is still RF at almost 17 months. We bought a foonf with hopes of keeping her comfortably RF for as long as we can. We'll see!

Just switched at 2 years old- and fwiw it had no effect on her crankiness in the car.

With my oldest around almost 3. Plan to do the same with my second. I have shades in the back and have always driven an SUV so the back windows are tinted so it helps with cooling them down. Plus, I usually just blast the a/c as soon as I get in to help cool the car down. It usually helps.
