I only bring siblings if DH is out of town and cant watch the other child

@regberadaisy: does the invite list both of your kids name? If not, I would assume only the one is invited.

I think if the invite comes from school friends, unless they're i the same class/grade, siblings aren't invited.

If they're friends of the parents, I would think they'd be invited and it would be totally fine.

I'd never actually say anything though, to a parent that brought more than the invited child. I just don't see that going down well.

@looch: Same thoughts here. If it's a school friend, I'd assume only the child of mine in that actual class was invited. If it were family friends/my friends with kids, I'd assume the whole family was invited.

We just had DS's 3rd birthday party and his classmates' moms all asked if it was ok to bring siblings. One was embarrased to do so because she said she would never normally drag along her oldest 2, but timing was off for the day of his party and she wouldn't be able to leave them home. I think everyone asked because we were serving lunch and they didn't want to throw off the head count.

If both names are not on the envelope, I assume that only one is invited. But if I don't have childcare, I will ask the host if I can bring the other sibling (if it makes sense) and offer to pay if it's at a venue. But my DD gets invited to almost all of my DS's parties since they were in the same mixed age class (but never at the same time) and share some of the same class mates.

@Mamaof2: DD was invited to one boy party this year at her school, and 0 girl parties. It was weird.

So much party politics for little kids!
