I got a notice to report so I'm at the court now, waiting to see if I get selected for jury duty! I'm hoping I get selected because it's a good time for me (kids are healthy, plus my laptop is in the repair shop) and also because I've always wanted to serve on a jury. And also because this morning it was 16 degrees (feels like 6) and I don't want this commute to have been in vain!

I got called last January & requested a deferral. I had the worst morning sickness and couldn't imagine being on a jury, and puking all day long.
Then I got called again this past September & had to call the request an extension/deferral. My report date was the same as my scheduled c-section, so.....
DH is in (on?) a jury right now. He's been there for a week! He said it's pretty cool. It's a criminal case.

Careful what you wish for! Many trials last a week or more. I was on a jury 5 years ago, for an assault & battery trial (bar fight). It lasted 4 days, but it was actually kind of interesting, although super frustrating.

I was selected, but they ended up settling out of court. I was disappointed, to be honest, because I was curious to see how a trial played out!

At 34 weeks pregnant! I even went through the voire dire process where the judge and lawyers interview you, and it was pretty interesting. Luckily I pulled the "I'm 34 weeks pregnant and have an ultra sound scheduled tomorrow because my doctor has some concerns" card... I was put on bed rest for pre-eclampsia 3 days later and induced the following week!

I have only ever gotten 1 summons and the night before selection for a call that we were all dismissed from that jury summons. I was so disappointed because I really want to be on a jury! Plus my work tops you up to full pay and also our legal system in Canada covers childcare expenses for jury duty.

I got summoned 2 months after turning 18, then literally every 3 years. I got called to a jury every time, and the 3rd time I was foreperson. I'm that person who hates jury duty now because it was such a pain in the butt getting to the courthouse, missing work, sitting around, etc. Every time I was the only minority and the only person seemingly under 40 years old in the entire jury pool so I knew if there was a case, I'd get called. Ugh. Thankfully I haven't been called since then.
Two cases were drunk driving and one was a stalking/ BE case. All were mildly interesting but mostly boring.

I have been on call 3 days a week the whole month. The only time I was called in I had a scheduled day off for a dr apt. It ended up being fine since I am 35 weeks pregnant. I was originally called for the month of October and had to defer because I was shooting a wedding in Mexico. In rural counties they reserve the right to call you in for a whole month, which boggles my mind in my old county you just show up for a day. I went once and was released before even being interviewed for a case.

Never, which is odd to me. DH has gotten a notice 3 times, but we had moved each time, so he had to defer. I really want to serve on a Grand Jury, but I have this feeling I'll one day wind up on some weeks long civil case bored to tears.

last March, I was selected it was a drug case (pretty open and shut really, not sure why the guy didn't take the plea deal) so I was only in court for like 2 1/2 days. Pretty painless really.

I was supposed to go in December for the first time, but I had a death in the family. I then rescheduled for March, but now we are supposed to do IVF then. Not sure how to handle that!

I have never ever been summoned (knocking wood so I don't jinx myself) and to the best of my knowledge neither has my SO.

A few years ago and ended up serving on a weeklong trial. It was rough - the nature of the case and seeing how people on the jury bicker about race and class.

I received one almost every year for years through college and grad school, which I deferred (was across the country at school). Since moving back? Nothing. I wouldn't mind as long as I'm not nursing/about to give birth. I participate as a witness or juror in a lot of mock trials (my dad is a lawyer and teaches at an annual trial school/coaches a trial team). It would be interesting to participate in a real trial.

A few years ago. I got dismissed for health reasons, but I ended up knowing the defendant anyway.
I don't know if I will serve again though cause my husband is a lawyer. It would be interesting though!

I've been called a few times, the last one was not long after I had DS, so I was able to get it waived.
The first time I was called up, I had class so I got it deferred. Turns out the date they gave me was 9/12/2001. Needless to say, I didn't go in.
And the second time I was called was for a huge trial that was all over the media and lasted several weeks. They called a ton of people, and I was able to say that I'm self employed and can't be away from my business for that long. I'm really glad that worked, it was a horrible crime and the guy pulled all sorts of stunts to get out of going to court (like swallowing a pencil...)

I was summoned the week of my wedding. I was able to reschedule it a few months later. I was chosen for a jury and the trial lasted two days. I actually enjoyed it - it was really interesting and kind of fulfilling to participate in the process.
My work paid me my normal salary for the days I served.

You just have to be registered to vote, right? I've definitely voted plenty of times.
I've even worked for very jury-duty-friendly companies, so I would not have any trouble serving

@swurlygurl: that's so weird! My mom. Who's not registered to vote and doesn't even speak English has gotten summoned numerous times. Every time waived because of the language barrier.

Within the first six month's of LO's life, I was called to serve at three different courts (county, state, and federal). I was able to be excused from all three since I had a super small child who was dependent on me but I wasn't called before that and haven't been since.

About a month before LO1 was due. I got a deferral and was never summonsed again!
