We live in a small apartment right now, so the only good spot for the litter box is in our walk in closet, tucked in a corner. When we move we will have a basement so that is where it will go. DH's parents and the people whose house we are moving into, keep the litter box in the kitchen. No offense to anyone who does that, but that is not appetizing to me lol. Where do you keep the litter box?

We keep ours in our mud room/laundry room.
I'd love to have it in the basement but our basement is undeveloped and full of junk and my cat is just TOO untrustworthy to be down there alone. He eats ANYTHING.
So, the back room is where it's at.

We keep it in the basement currently. We are wondering what to do with it once LO is here, because we won't want to leave that basement door open once they are mobile. The other option would be our laundry room which is on our first floor.

In the kitchen?! OMG I would barf. Ours is in the closet in our office (it's a walk-in closet). The office is also upstairs, so I like that we can't smell it at all downstairs (our bedroom is downstairs).

We have 2. We keep ours in a spare bedroom, we never have guests over and it's just an open room with a bed. and we keep the other one upstairs in our den. Both are in rooms that we rarely ever go in!

Ours is in our bath tub. We use swheat scoop and its can be flushed so before showering we rinse out and spray the tub

Ours is hidden under a side table in the dining room. It has a cover over it so you don't see into it. We don't have anywhere else to put it

ours is inside this litterbox cover bench in the living room. i wish i could keep it downstairs where we have much more room, but our cat is scared to come downstairs!

The garage! We used to have it in the guest room tub, but I got tired of having to do a serious deep-clean every time we had guests, plus it was just...icky. So, we decided to see if having it in the garage would pose a problem. (We'd have to open the door to let her use the litter box) So far, it's worked great! No accidents, and she's good about going to the door when she needs out. Loooove not having it in the house!!!!

We have a 1 bd, 600 sqft place, so ours is hidden behind a curtain wall in our bedroom. Thankfully, my hubby is really diligent about scooping, and I never smell it. We're buying a house this summer, and I cannot wait to get that thing in a more away-from-my-bed location!

Our cats mainly stay upstairs, we keep it in our bathroom area...its hard to explain. Our bedroom is rather large and has a hallway that goes to the masterbath, and its in an area thats not like in our bedroom but not really in the bath area yet either.

@Pepper: would you consider putting a little cat door in the basement door? I had a friend who did that when she was pregnant with her first and it worked really well for her.

Right next to the door to the garage, in the entryway. It's an enclosed litter box (a booda dome or something...) and people are always like, "oh wow, that doesn't smell! awesome!" DH is building a bench of some sort right now that we can put the litter box inside so that the cats can't kick the litter out. If it's kept clean and the litter is changed regularly, I don't care where it's kept. But it's easiest by the garage door because I can take it out right away.

Right now it's in the laundry room. We wanted to put it in the extra bathroom in the space under the counter that's open but our cat likes to rip apart the toilet paper and get into everything so the laundry room is the best option.

We keep it in our second bedroom, which is technically the office/computer room, but in reality is the cat room.

Ours is in the basement. I DID live in an apartment once where the only spot for it was the kitchen. It worked out though. The kitchen was only countertops on one side, the other side was a dining area also on linoleum. We did not use the dining area (did not have a table, just ate in the living room). What I did was bought a particleboard shelving unity from Target to put pantry-type supplies in and hid the cat box behind that, like a divider. So it was in the kitchen but as far away from food prep as possible, behind a 'solid' divider (the shelving unit).

We have a tiny apartment so the only place is on top of the dryer because I would rather that than in the dining room

@.twist.: We were considering this, actually. One of my cats is nervous about everything... I worry she'd be too afraid to use the door, haha. That may end up being the solution though, as long as she can adjust!

Ours is at the bottom of the linen closet that we keep no linens in. We keep the door cracked so the cats can get in but the dog can't. She likes to go "treasure" hunting. Yuck.
Can't wait until we have a basement. I hate litter boxes. -
I used to have to keep mine in the kitchen when I had a tiny apartment. There was literally no other place for it.
Right now we have ours in the office, it's the room that gets the least use/traffic.

We have several in the basement....We have five cats living in the house though..Only one is mine and the rest are my folks....

No cat here, but if we had one, it would be in the basement in the laundry room. As far away from everyone as possible.
