LO is 20 months and I'm trying to decide which gifts to preassemble and which to leave in boxes. A lot of LOs toys are second hand so automatically assembled.
She is getting a water table from my folks. It came in the mail. Not sure if I should put it together or not. I'm in California so she won't have to wait long to use it but it has been raining most days this month.
What is your strategy for gifts?

Our lo is 21 months and the only thing that will be out and unwrapped is lo's train table. We are wrapping everything else 
I know he will be most excited about the trains, and I'm hoping he will still want to open other presents!! But it is too big to wrap, so it is what it is. It should at least buy the grown ups some time to make breakfast and drink some cofree

I preassemble. I also take things out of their boxes and put in batteries (if needed) to make my life easier on Xmas day. And the kids can unwrap and play immediately.

She's 15 months so because she is still so little plus she is getting so much from everyone else, she only has one wrapped present from us, she had a book and bath toys in her stocking and her play kitchen will be assembled and sitting out.

We will set up most of the toys from Santa. Maybe wrap 2 or 3 - Sneakers, play kitchen accessories ect. DS is 12 months

His shopping cart, his trike, and his little vacuum will be set up under the tree.

We're putting together his slide. No way I'm wrapping that huge box! My MIL got him a teepee, so we'll put that together as well.

Last year at 12 months we didn't wrap anything. A lot was second hand and other stuff we took out of the boxes and just set up everything around the tree. Presents from family were wrapped but she had no clue what to do. This year the only think not wrapped will be her play kitchen , but it will be covered because I think she will be too excited and want to play instead of open gifts.

Nothing needs to be assembled this year. We had a preassembled wagon walker under the tree last year.

I just finished putting together his play kitchen!
Everything else (books, duplos, stuffed animal) will be wrapped but ready to play with (no packaging).

I'm wrapping everything except his gift from Santa. He isn't getting any toys that need to be assembled this year.

Big gifts will be assembled with bows. She'll have a play kitchen and rocking horse under the tree as well as second hand playhouse and crazy coupe. All her smaller gifts are wrapped. @Andrea: @Woolly Mammoth: love this idea to make things easier to play with in the morning. I'll have to remember for next year.

Ours is too young to really care this year, but I will wrap as many gifts as I can. If something's going to take a lot of assembly and I know he'll want to play with it, I'll probably go ahead and assemble, but I want to wrap as much as possible. My parents always wrapped my Santa gifts because I loved unwrapping gifts so much, and I always loved the extra anticipation of unwrapping Santa gifts too!

Last year we wrapped a few new to her gifts like a little people farm. This year my parents are giving her the Fisher price skyway so we may pre-assemble but then wrap that.

I got DD a My Generation doll from target (knock off AG) and I totally unwrapped her - man, she was tied in there with a billion ties - Didn't want to deal with that on Xmas morning - she will be sitting under the tree, ready to hold!

Everything is going to be opened and out of boxes. One of my son's larger gifts is a tent, that will be all set up.

play kitchen will be assembled and out with just a bow on it. Everything else will be untaped, destrung and have batteries
as needed then back into original packaging and wrapped.
We learned the hard way last year having to assemble immediately bc he wanted to play!

Normally, nothing is assembled and everything is wrapped. However, this year we bought some toys second hand off of our local FB group so bonus is they're already put together!

Santa gifts will be assembled with a bow (not wrapped): her art easel, her doll bed, a tool bench, and a table and chairs.

M's bike will be assembled with a big bow
C's cozy coupe if it gets here on time Amazon says 12/24 
Then Santa also got them a play tent, which will be assembled with stockings inside.

Nothing assembled. D's big present is a huge k'nex set and assembling it would be against the point lol.

Not wrapped: teepee, fire truck, and train (going around the tree). Wrapped: pirate ship, puzzle, book, socks, underwear. And then the stocking stuff will be in his stocking.

The water table we got assembled SO quickly! Have a slide to build but I think it's just a few bolts, so we might do it Christmas Eve after E goes to sleep. That's the only assembly-needed toy we have

His little table and chairs will be preassembled and next to the tree unwrapped (santa never wraps presents here) his tool cart from us will be assembled but wrapped. cant wait!!

I think we're assembling her little basketball hoop but mostly because the box is just too darn big to feel like wrapping.

His power wheels car will be unwrapped. Everything else will be wrapped but in a manner that he can play with it right away! I don't want to be tearing boxes open and installing batteries all morning, lol.

I never had anything preassembled as a kid so it never crossed my mind, but that is a good idea!
