LO is in a year round preschool but when she goes to school we'll need to find summer programs. There's a local preschool that does summer programs for kids through 3rd or 4th grade. We'll probably do that for a while and then summer camps. I'm not looking forward to finding interim care every summer, winter, and spring while the kids are in school.

I feel you! E started at a real school at the end of Sept (the preschool year), and its already the "half term" holiday (break). Then she goes back for a few weeks and then it's the two week Christmas holiday! Agh! I'm on maternity leave right now so it's okay (annoying, but ok) but I go back to work full time in January and I have no idea how I'm going to cover the endless bloody holidays.

I need to talk with our daycare to see if I can enroll DS just for the summer. DD is still at daycare so that would be the easiest solution, and they have a summer program that is fun and different from the rest of the "school" year.

I have been signing my DD up for week by week camps for the past few years. There is one specialty camp that begins summer sign up in the fall and fill up quickly, but you are only required to put a deposit down, so I pick a few weeks that look good and put deposits down. Those deposits get applied to the final balance once we choose our final dates, which are due two weeks before the camp starts. This early out, you just have to do your best and be flexible and have backups when the time comes (we always have one or two camps that are not her favorite but reliable for space in case something doesn't work out).
