I don't totally understand vow renewals--but if I were going to do one, it would be after 25 or more years of marriage....you know, a number that is a real accomplishment these days.

I have a sibling that has been married 3 times and even she made it past 5 years on all of her marriages. =)

I have been thinking about having a big backyard, garden, anniversary party for our 10th as a vow renewal. we will be together for 20 years at that point.

We'll see where we are financially at that point.

I have thought about doing one for our 10th but it would just be me and DH while on vacation - not a gathering with people

My husband specified before we got married that this is a one time deal and that he didn't believe in them. I still hold out hope that when we hit 50 years he will reconsider if I want one then. My grandparents did one at 50 years in the same church which was just so special. It was a ton of fun getting to celebrate that with them and being older now I realize it was probably a way bigger wedding than the one they had the first time around.

Nope. I feel awkward even reading our vows now. I love the words, but I don't really want to relive that moment again!

If my husband really wanted to, I would consider it, for him, in private. Not in a group.

No....but even if I did: 5 years is WAY too early.
I do like going on anniversary vacations. We do a small one every year but for our 10th, it'll be Turkey or Greece. Or I also like big anniversary parties (like with a band and dance floor and all the wedding formalities).
Again though...not at 5 years, in my opinion.

I think maybe if it was a 25 year or more anniversary. But we didn't do one for 5, and I'm positive we won't do one for 10. If we ever did, I would like to think it would just be close family, and we wouldn't expect a thing from them except to be there to witness it.

I would so I could have the wedding I wanted.

I've always wanted to elope, so I would do that for a vow renewal.

Like a giant big wedding party all over again - Eulgh no, not our bag at all, we celebrate our anniversary, second wedding to the same person, I don't get it.

Private event with just a couple and perhaps their children/grandchildren in attendance, quite nice but only years and years down the line.

I'm not a fan of vow renewals unless perhaps it's once at 30 years or something.

I've thought about doing one at 10...on a beach jus the two of us and maybe our kids. I wanted a beach wedding but gave my dream up for my husband who wanted to have a large wedding. I would like to get my dream too

@locavore_mama: How fun! I bet they loved it! Now that I am married I get what a huge accomplishment it is to reach those milestones still loving each other and enjoying your marriage, it's actually a shame we don't celebrate it more.

Probably not, but like @Anagram: said, it wouldn't be until a bigger milestone like the 25th if we did want to.

I've never been a fan of renewals. They have their place at truly significant anniversaries (like 25/50 years or if the couple has been through a truly rocky time) but they're something I'm really interested in....once was enough!

I've always thought that when celebrities do renewals that it's the beginning of the end. They're trying to "prove" something and their divorce is imminent.

I would do it privately, but not have a party afterward!

i would do it as an elopement, but probably something very informal. Just us, maybe on a really cool vacation and just taking some time to read our vows and re-remind ourselves of the reasons that we got married...then have a really great dinner and wine.

@TheSwissWifeStyle: Our good friends did this for their 10th. They got married really young but the pics are awesome. They Vegas-ed up their outfits and you could even watch it live on the facility website.

Maybe for like 15, 25, etc years

I have thought about this. We had a tiny wedding (only immediate family) due to my mother being ill at the time so we never got to celebrate with everyone. LO's first bday is only two months before our 5 year anniversary though, so we may just have a big party for her instead and maybe take a vacation. I feel like we would only do it for the reception part. We don't really need to renew our vows right now.

We've considered and talked about doing it for our 5 year. Our wedding, while wonderful, wasn't exactly what we wanted. There was a lot of pressure to have family there and while we loved celebrating with our loved ones, we were discussing and even somewhat planning a small destination wedding. If we do something, it would be a small vow renewal on a beach somewhere just the two of us.
