Hell no. I've known people in open marriages or relationships -- some worked, some didn't. But not for me!

hell no, I would lose all trust for my husband if he even wanted too. To me if someone wants a hall pass the marriage is not where it should be and that should be focused.

Cheating is a deal breaker for us. But there are lots of ways to live life and if both partners are ok with it, good for them.

Nope. If he wanted to be able to do whatever he wants whenever he wants he shouldn't have chosen to get married. That's kind of the point of marriage. The thought makes me sick.

For me, it wouldn't be a question of "giving him a hall pass." He wouldn't want one. He would be furious and disappointed in me if I even suggested it. (which I wouldn't)

But, I do think it's important to give each other independence and alone time. He's goes out with friends or on boys' trips alone all the time. I don't care, I trust him implicitly. But faithfulness is something we vowed to each and before God. It's a non-negotiable, ever. And I'm grateful to be with a man who believes that too. It's so deeply rooted in who he is, I truly don't think he's capable of cheating.

Personally, I don't like the idea. But, I do see how it could work for people, especially if there is an imbalance of sex drives in an otherwise great marriage. I think both partners have to be totally sure and okay with it though.

@mrsjd: My DH is the same way. Just solid to the core. Lots of other defects (like me!), but I'm glad the "wandering eye" is not one of them.

Every open marriage or relationship that I have ever known--and I'm surprised to say that I've known more than one--has fallen apart in a blaze of glory. I just don't think the "hall pass" concept fundamentally works for homo sapiens.

@Amorini: Sure thing! DH has an awful temper at time and is super impatient and easily frustrated. But yes, solid to the core is a great way to describe it. Completely trustworthy.

Honestly, he's too lazy to put in the effort for someone else, so it's really a moot point. But I don't personally think I could be okay with it anyway. I already have too many body and sex-related issues, and I don't think I could stop myself from obsessively thinking about it/comparing myself. But who knows how I might feel about it 20 years from now, so no judgment...whatever works for your relationship!

Probably. We've discussed an open relationship several times. We just couldn't figure the logistics well enough.
