This is awesome news!! I also read that the other nurse that has it is getting better and that the doctors can no longer detect the virus, so hopefully she'll be declared as cured soon too!

@Adira: wow that would be amazing! Hopefully the same will happen for the NYC doctor.
I have to say, part of me feels sad, though. Look at how people have been cured when they have access to sanitary, high-level health care. I feel sad for the people in Africa and wonder how many could have been saved if they had the same access

@MrsSCB: I don't whether she received any drugs, but she did get a transfusion from a survivor. I wonder if the key to better treatment in Africa lies in more access to safe transfusion medicine...or more access to (extremely scarce, presumably expensive) meds? Also, I think there is still a lot of misinformation circulating...and maybe that's delaying Africans seeking care?

@FliegepilzHut: Thanks for adding the bit about the transfusion. I was wondering if they had tried something like that since the nurses seemed to get better so fast. I've heard that they want to try transfusions in Africa too, but they are running into snags regarding screening for HIV/Hep C etc.
