Hi All, this is my first post. I'm 31 and my husband and I have been not preventing for a year. We are not in a hurry, so we thought we would casually see if I would get pregnant.
I was on bc for about 16 years, and was very irregular before getting on the pill. Once getting off the pill last year, for the first 8 months my period only would come every 50-60 days. I called my doc and they said not to worry because my body was just adjusting, and I could not come in until I had been TTC for 1 year. Now my period is coming every 20-27 days but only lasts 1 day.
After the full year of waiting was up, I scheduled my regular obgyn appt. My doc did blood tests and an ultrasound. Come to find out, my AMH level is a very low 0.03 and the ultrasound showed that I only have one follicle on one of my ovaries. All other test results were normal. My doc has refered me to a fertility specialist.
I'm just nervous because I don't know what to expect. Has anyone had my same issue?
I've done a lot of research but have not found much information on having such a low ovarian reserve. And if IVF is the only way to conceive, I'm not 100% I want to do that right now, but it seems like it might be a now or never situation.
Any advise or encouragment is welcome!
For what it's worth, you could also consider embryo adoption. It's usually cheaper than regular adoption, and some people to have a baby that's either 100% theirs or 100% not, rather than only having one person as a biological parent and the other not.
