Blow in his face a bit, tickle his feet, nurse him undressed so he's a little cold, wiggle his arm.

My sister had that problem with her son. She did the blowing on his face trick, and rubbing the bottom of his feet with a washcloth. It still wasn't perfect but it kept him out of the full on milk coma for a while longer. She also did the stripping down thing so he was a little colder.

oh man - this was such an issue for us in the beginning (and still sometimes).

we've done all of the above, plus ice cubes on the soles of her feet (yes, i know, that's intense!).

i went to a breastfeeding support group where the LC advised "active breastfeeding" which means don't let LO fall asleep on one boob and try to keep feeding off that boob (it was resulting in marathon BF sessions). she told me to switch boobs as soon as LO got sleepy, try to burp in between, and also lay LO down on her back on the couch (you're much warmer & cozier).

my friend also recommended putting LO down on a harder surface. i sometimes put a light blanket down on a table and then put her down. she doesn't like that & wakes up.

i've also used my hair to tickle her face.

I used to tickle her, put cold cloth on back of neck, tickle feet. if she was really out, a gentle flick to bottom of her foot worked - it's a reflex, not abuse, I promise lol.
