I've never had these before. What do they taste like? Does your LO like them? Where do you even find these at the grocery store?
I saw a cute DIY for holiday party snacks but have never had them.

My DD and DH LOVE them!!!!
I like them but prefer hard cheddar - babybel is soft
eta: they are in the specialty cheese section at our grocery store (where the feta, gorgonzola, etc is)

Love them! We like the light ones best, they are a bit firmer, and less calories!

@regberadaisy: no its not - the original is a white mild cheese (that what my DD eats) more like american

I love them.. But I have yet to meet a cheese that I don't like It's like a soft mild white cheddar. Show us the snack idea

@regberadaisy: here you go:
The basic "original" version is based on Edam cheese, which is also a young, soft cow's milk cheese coated in red wax

@Reese: I am not the OP but there are so many cute things to do with these things!!

They have several different flavors but they are all pretty mild. My LO likes the "white cheddar" (black packaging) best. The original one is kind of like american cheese.

It's Edam cheese! SO GOOD! One of my favorites. Well, all cheeses are my favorites (except the really stinky ones) so, it's good.

@Reese: @Mamaof2: how adorable is this?! Thinking about doing this for daycare party!

@Mamaof2: how many are typically in a bag and how much?

@regberadaisy: Do you have a Costco membership? That's where we usually get them. Not sure exactly how many are in the bag.

@regberadaisy: I think they are pricey - 10 for $5.50 at my grocery store but if you have a BJs (or other warehouse place) check there - they are 20 for $8.99

They are so delicious! But are expensive. I only buy them as a treat and try to buy them on sale or from Costco. I have yet to meet a kid who doesn't like them.

They are soft, mild cheeses. We enjoy them on occasion, though I do think they are a little pricey. Cute diy though!

@Mamaof2: @regberadaisy: SO cute!! and such an easy party treat. Costco has larger batches if you have one near you.

@Pancakes: @Reese: @Mrs. Goose: @Mamaof2: we have BJs. I'll check there. Thanks!

Funny babybel story - my mom used to send them in our lunch every day and one day my brother came home and asked her to stop sending them because "I like the filling but the red part is gross." He'd been eating the wax for years.

My son likes it. I think they are kind of boring, there are a lot of other cheeses I would rather eat!

I'm actually not a fan to be honest. I agree with the above poster--many other cheeses I'd rather eat!

I like them. They're a comfort food in the sense we've been eating them since childhood. Edam cheese, bought at Sams or Kroger.

Does anyone have some at home right now? Can you tell me the diameter and thickness? so I can get to cutting the belt and buckles! Otherwise I'll be up late the night before daycare party like I usually am...LOL

I like them! DD LOVES to unwrap them, to the point where she would do it and not eat them But I like that they are convenient for out and about.

@regberadaisy: So cute! We get them in bulk from Costco!

@rattles: @regberadaisy: Yea they are small. Cutting all that out could be time consuming. If you do come up with good dimension though for the cuts can you post them? I love trying to find healthy snacks for daycare.

@T.H.O.U.: the belts should go fairly fast. I'm going to aim for 1/2" x 5 1/4" which will work nice because letter size is 8 1/2" wide. The buckles I'm going with 3/4" x 7/8" with 1/8" buckles. I might try to create the buckle pattern in autocad and see if I can print onto construction paper! If it works, I'll post a pdf!

DD used to eat one for breakfast everyday. She calls it her "special cheese" because she can unwrap it herself. She only likes the original (red) version though. I like the purple one.

@regberadaisy: BJ's definitely has them! They're by the Greek yogurt - they come bundled up in a little red net, I'd say right around 20 individually wrapped cheeses per package.

@erinbaderin: that is hilarious!
Babybel is a favorite in our house! Probably lo's favorite snack! She loves opening them too.
