DS is 2 months old. I just started back on birth control. My doctor told me that it could affect my milk supply. Has this happened to anyone? How will I know if my supply decreases?

Yes, it is very common that BCP can affect supply. Are you exclusively nursing? I would keep an eye on your babies weight gain and the number or dirty/wet diapers.

huh, my doctor didn't tell me this so i wasn't watching for a dip in my supply. if there was a change, it was not significant. my supply, while not abundant, seems fine and i believe his weight gain is on track.

@T.H.O.U.: Yes, I'm EBF. I will keep an eye on the output, which he has never seemed to have a problem with.
@edelweiss: That is good to hear that everything remained normal.
The last thing I need is for my supply to decrease as this baby hates the bottle most of the time.

It negatively impacted my supply, but others have no problems at all. I noticed an increase in how often LO nursed within a couple of days after starting BC, so I stopped.

I am on the mini pill. Some have seen decreases in supply, but I have not had that problem.

@MsLipGloss: I think if he starts to nurse more often I would stop taking the pill as well. We are finally getting to longer stretches and I don't want to impact that.
@ninja: That is good that it has been fine, this is what I'm hoping for.
