Is a bottle warmer ever worth it? I have heard such mixed reviews...I am planning on breast feeding and once I go back to work MIL will have to warm my possibly frozen supply. Perhaps it is just new parent paranoia but I can just forsee her nuking the heck out of it even if we instruct her not to. I know she would be into the bottle warmer since she loves a good gadget and I will be honest in concept it sounds better to me than schlepping a pan out and heating it on the stove or holding the bottle under water...any thoughts ladies?

I don't find it necessary. When I need to warm pumped breastmilk, I just put the bag in a warm bowl of water while I assemble the bottle. DH just runs it under warm water at the sink. However, if you think it'll make life easier for your MIL, I could see it being worth it... especially if you're afraid she's going to give LO a too hot bottle.

@tillma: For me it was worth it. At home I would heat up her breastmilk by placing the bottle in warm water but when we were out that wasnt always practical. The bottle warmer is a fast easy way to heat up bottles and jars too. And was so convenient for days out, going to church or visiting people. Ours was small enough to carry with us

The Dr,Brown's bottle warmer will detect the weight of the bottle and heat it accordingly. So, we never had hot steamy bottles.
This is a different story if you use Playtex liners. In that case, you really wouldn't even need a warmer because they're so easy anyway. -
I was anti-bottle warmer for a long time, especially since I live in an apartment and space is at a premium. But heating a bottle of pumped milk under the tap took ages, and using the pan on the stove wasn't ideal - you need to stand there and swirl it around in the water until it's warm enough. After I got the bottle warmer, I realized that I should have gotten it sooner - you can just pop the bottle in and walk away, and it beeps when it's ready. Plus I got the small un-fancy one from Munchkin, and it really doesn't take up much space at all.

My LO really isn't picky about the temperature of his milk. We just put the pumped milk (refrigerated) in a cup of hot water for a minute or two to take the edge off. He doesn't need it to be warm so for us it isn't worth the expense.

I use hot water from our k cup machine! We don't have the counter space.

We have one, but didn't really need it. LO drinks cold milk no prob.

We just nuked a mug of water in the microwave for 1:30- water was hot enough to heat the bottle but never too hot.
When we went out and about, we would bring hot water in a thermos (after several disastrous attempts to warm a bottle in too-small restaurant mugs!)
My friends who use a bottle warmer seem to have VERY picky babies when it comes to temperature, since the bottle was always heated to the same temperature. Im happy to not have to deal with that. -
@Pink Champagne: Weirdly I can never get our bottle warmer to heat the milk to the same temperature!

We use a warmer to take the edge off of the refrigerated bottles. I never warm it past room temperature though. It's been really helpful for her to be happy taking room temperature bottles. Makes travel easier!

I have a Kiinde Kozii that I like but it is slow!

@autumnlove: agree, it was so slow! lo ended up drinkingroom temp expressed milk anyway so i sold the kiinde.
when i fed thawed milk, i just ran the bags under warm running water, which was much faster than the warmer.
