Is it worth getting? I feel like it's one of those unnecessary purchases, but at the same time, I've heard it can cut down on the time to heat milk.

I've known people who loved having one, but I never used ours. I just heated the bottle up in a cup of warm water instead.

I never had one - always just used a mug of hot water. I was too afraid of scalding.

I just microwaved a cup of water and the stuck the bottle in it. If you are going to just do formula I can see the appeal since you will doing it all day.

I never used one-- I did the same as others-- heated up a mug of water and popped the bottle (of breastmilk) in that. Once we switched to WCM, I just nuke the whole bottle.
edit: I also think it takes longer with a bottle warmer than the mug trick, probably because it gradually warms the milk. My friends' bottle warmers would take 10 mins or so for a bottle? I'd have a warm bottle way before then.

We had one and it was convenient but not necessary.
I think it depends on how often you plan to bottle feed. We only bottle fed once or twice a day until she went on a bottle strike at 5-6 months, so it wasn't very necessary for us.

I've nannied for families that had them and those that didn't. I do think a bottle warmer is much more convenient, and faster. That being said, I wouldn't bother unless you're planning to bottle feed the vast majority of the time. It's just one more thing to take up space and that you have to clean if you're not going to get really regular use out of it.

We had one gifted to us and it was definitely convenient! But I probably wouldn't pay for one myself!

@dolphin: We have one, too. Never thought about using it to heat bottles - now it seems pretty obvious
I'm still in the 2nd trimester with our first and trying to get a handle on this whole feeding (among everything else) thing. I do plan to breastfeed but will also need to pump and bottle feed, especially once I head back to work.
Seems the general consensus that it's pretty unnecessary and it seems that hot water in a mug will do just fine. Thanks, Ladies

I have the Boon orb which I love, but I EP. When we are out and about I usually just make a cup of hot water in a keurig and it works fine

It was necessary for is because I didn't have a microwave, nor would I have wanted to use it for bottle warming.

We got by without one. I pump and we supplement with formula. When DD was younger and eating frequently we used to make a batch of formula and keep it it in fridge. When she was hungry we just put the bottle of milk or prepared formula in a mug or bowl full of hot water and did a diaper change while we waited for it to warm. Now that she's older and feedings are less often we just fill bottles with water ahead of time and scoop the formula into the bottles when it's time to eat so it's room temperature and no need to warm. We still have to warm/thaw the milk obviously but it's less frequent.
ETA: I say "warm" but we actually just heated enough to take the chill out from being stored in the fridge. The only time we really made the bottle warm was for the feeding right before bed.

We never had one and just put the bottles in a cup of warm/hot water for a little bit. Just took the chill off of it so it is comfortable to hold but DD never seemed to mind the cooler temperature of the formula.

I have scorched bottles on a few occasions with an Avent warmer. I greatly prefer hot water in a mug, the Keurig works well for that purpose too.

M was on formula after 3 months and I loved having the warmer. Took maybe 4 minutes and so easy for the MOTN feedings.

Take your choice of bottle into consideration as well. My LO only takes Playtex Nursers with the drop-in liner, which you cannot heat in a bottle warmer. I just gave our warmer away to another mom since we never used it.

We had the kiinde kozii or whatever it's called but I ended up selling it because it took longer to heat the milk up than running the bag (pumped milk) under warm water. I know some people swore by their bottle warmer. When we eventually switched to formula, LO took it at room temp so no warmer was necessary!
