Just curious- If you are EP and supplementing, how much BM would be worth the hassle of continuing to pump 5x per day?

I think if I had a session that regularly got less than two ounces I would drop that session. But only if I was comfortable with the idea that that might make my supply continue to slowly decrease.

I've read that a baby gets the majority of the benefits of breastmilk if they have two breastmilk feedings a day. So I would want at least two full bottles worth.

@Truth Bombs: same.
@babynumber1: if I wasn't getting at least 2oz out of a session then that wouldn't be worth it to me and I would consider dropping that session.

Because I hate pumping so much, it would have to be close to a full supply for it to be worth it to me. I currently pump 3 x/ day and get 12-16 oz, which is a good balance for me. Do whatever keeps you sane!

Wow, pumping 5x per day is no joke. I think i would have to get at least 2 oz per session to make it worth it.
But if your ok with the idea that your supply may drop further, you could try to pump just 3-4 times and see if that makes it more worth it and get more per session (although this usually isn't sustainable) .

I'd have to pump enough for at least half of his feedings the following day to make it worthwhile for me. Ultimately, all his bottle feedings at daycare, which is about 12-16oz.

As long as I pumped even a bottle, I kept going! When I couldn't even make 1 bottle was when I stopped.

Just as an anecdote - I currently BF 2x a day and pump 2x a day. I get anywhere between 6-8 oz of pumped milk with my 2 pumps, plus the BF feedings he gets. So I'm assuming my total milk output is 14-16 oz per day. If it dropped below 10oz total milk output, I think I personally would probably wean.

I EP and supplement. Right now I make about 3/4 of what she needs. I always said that if I got down to 1/2 I would quit

Following this! I pump what feels like around the clock and barely meet 50% of each of my twins needs. I know in my head it's worth it, but I'm. So. Tired.

Wow, I guess I have lower standards when it comes to pumping. My milk makes up a quarter of LO's daily calories with an 8 oz. bottle a day. I got my period back yesterday, so it's a little lower. I'm happy with one bottle a day at this point. He gets the nutritional benefits from it as well as the bonding with the nighttime feeds. When I'm barely pumping out 4 ounces, I'll consider quitting. For now, if I can make it to the 25th, then he'll have the same benefits as his brother. After that, I'll quit if it's not worth it.

When I was trying to EP, when my supply dropped to less than half of DD's daily needs, I quit.
