My nipples are already bleeding a bit and in a lot of pain.
My breasts are also extremely sore from being so incredibly engorged.
Anyone have any tips or tricks to help relieve pain until I get through this uncomfortable first few weeks?

Cabbage leaves for engorgement.
APNO for pain.
For me the cold was terrible. Try to keep them warm?
I've heard sunlight helps but never tried.
Tylenol.

Soothies pads- use for 72 hours and keep them in the fridge while you are nursing. Also make sure to let them sir dry every time and put nipple cream once they dry (if not using the soothies).
Good luck. This part is not so fun.

Aww I'm sorry! For me it was just time - it got a little better each day and it stopped hurting around two weeks, I think?

I used mother love nipple cream, and LO is not a fan. I just bite my tongue and suffer a bit. At 3.5 weeks I think I'm finally getting the hang of it and not bothered as much by the pain.

Hot showers helped for me for soreness. Earth mama angel baby balm and breast milk helped with the cracked nipples.

I second the earth mama angel baby nipple balm. It works so much better for me than lanolin.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I hear you! My nipples are in rough shape right now too. For the engorgement, the best thing I did was take a hot shower and massage them. I also used the earth mama angel baby boobie tubes - you can heat them up. After feedings I used the lansinoh pearl gel packs from the freezer. The soothies didn't help me much. My nipples are also cracked and were bleeding. The earth mama balm and the mother love balm were not cutting it for me. I got a script for APNO and switched to lanolin and I am in much better shape. I've also been taking Tylenol and ibprofin around the clock. We will get through this!!!
ETA the pediatrician (also board certified in lactation) said that the latest research shows that it's better to keep cracked nipples moist as opposed to letting them air dry. She said if they dry they're more likely to re crack or for the scabs to peel off onto the breast pads.

APNO and Mother Love Nipple Cream. Express some milk onto them and let air dry.

Lanolin helped me when my nips got super sore. I also massaged my breasts in the shower to relieve some of the pain.

APNO, gel pads the LC gave me, and gel packs kept in the freezer stuffed into my shirt.

Lady, I feel for you! APNO was the very best for me. I made my own since I couldn't get a prescription. I wish I still had the handout from the lactation consultant, but I googled and found the "recipe". One part hydrocortisone ointment, one part Polysporin and one part Lotrimin. Make sure they are all ointments and not creams. Mix together equal parts of each in the palm of your hand or in a small container with a q-tip then apply after each feeding. I started getting better within just days of use.
Once I got over the really bad cracked/bleeding part,
Motherlove Nipple cream worked well.

Olive oil, soaking in salt water solution, black teabags (something about the tannins?), and TIME (2 weeks for me). Also adjusting her latch every. single. time.
