Dud/do you avoid caffeine while BF? I'm scared it will make my LO wide awake. Is that even possible

i did avoid it up until she was 3 months old because i had the same fear you did! but then i gave in and resumed drinking my morning cup of black tea with milk every morning and there were no noticeable effects of LO's sleep/mood. i am not sure about coffee (i don't drink) or soda (i am still avoiding). maybe ease back into it so you can see if she has any ill effects from it?

ds never had a problem with it. I didn't give up my morning cup of coffee for this pregnancy, and it'll be even less that she'll get through my milk when she's on the outside, so I won't give it up.

I have a cup a day and never noticed any side effects in LO. I would have a hard time functioning without that cup!

I've been avoiding it, but I had a large Sonic coke the other day and there was no noticeable difference.

i drank it while pregnant and since he was born and i don't notice anything. He is 3 months now and for the most part has been a great sleeper (although last night was a major exception!)

I don't use caffeine, but if I did, I think I'd avoid it while breastfeeding.

Thanks ladies ! At most I normally have one cup of coffee in the mornings and from what most of you say it sounds like LO would tolerate it fine!

I feel like I drink a lot of caffeine throughout the day -- 1 -2 cups of coffee in the morning, sometimes a soda for lunch, and 1-2 cups of tea throughout the afternoon. It doesn't seem to affect my LO at all but it sure gives me the energy I desperately need!

I read the LLL says up to three cups a day so I have 2-3 cups a day. For awhile I thought it was making her spit up but it turns out she just spits up a lot!
