For those of you who took Clomid, will you please share your experience? I'm very interested in knowing how soon you started ovulating (what CD) and if it worked the first cycle or not. If not, do you know why it didn't work?

I started on 100mg. I also planned to do an IUI with the first round as well, as per my RE. I used to ovulate around day 18, but when I went in on day 12 for a follicle scan, I had one "big juicy follicle", so they gave me the trigger shot to time the ovulation well. so I guess I would have ovulated in the next day or 2. I had the IUI, and I got a BFN. No idea why it didn't work.
The next month I started Clomid, planned to do an IUI, but went on a trip to Paris instead when I was due to ovulate and tried naturally. I definitely ovulated early (for me) again around day 13, and got pregnant that cycle.
It seems like a lot of people's experiences with Clomid are different. I did have a few hot flashes, more anxiety, more hunger!, bloating, and significant ovary cramping right before ovulation. It could have been the trip and "being relaxed" but I do think I needed the Clomid to get pregnant.

I started at 50mg, went in for a scan on day 7, nothing. Went back in on day 10, nothing. So they upped my dose to 100mg, I took it for five more days (they basically reset my cycle without having to have a period) went in again on CD7 and there was a little one. The next scan at CD 10 showed nothing. So they upped it to 150mg and I started over. Finally had something decent but I didn't ovulate until CD 21. They had me use OPK's instead of monitoring. I did 3 more cycles of Clomid but by the fourth cycle my lining was too thin which is a side effect of Clomid. So I did 2 rounds of Femara but didn't respond at all. With all 6 of those cycles we used timed intercourse. It wasn't until we moved on to injectibles (with a new RE office) that we did IUI.
We aren't sure why Clomid or Femara didn't work. I guess I just needed something a little bit stronger to do the job since we did get pregnant on our second IUI with Follistim.

I started at 50 - ovulated on 14 each time (I think). I usually had 3 follies with one in the lead. What you should be prepared for: hot flashes. They aren't painful, but they're intense!

I did a round of 50 mg in July of 2011 prescribed by my GYN. I did not ovulate that cycle. Decided I would rather try some alternatives (accupuncture + diet). Went to an RE in December and did 100 mg and ovulated and got pregnant! I was totally prepared for the process to take a lot longer - they could only determine I wasn't ovulating but no other fertility issues. I think the combo of accupuncture/diet/clomid did the trick for me.
As for the sid effects, I took it at night and never had any side effects.
GOOD LUCK!

I took Clomid for 6 months - 2 months of 50 mg, 2 months of 100 mg, and 2 months of 150 mg. I ovulated all 6 months - usually around day 15 or 16. I know we timed things really well (according to charting my temperature and ovulation predictor kits) but for whatever reason, I didn't get pregnant. I've heard a lot of success stories though! I wish you the best of luck!

I took 50 mg for one month (no monitoring, though). I still O'd fairly late, I think -- day 18 or so (charted). But I had no side effects (took it at night) and it did the trick the first cycle!

Hi! I took three cycles of 50 mg Clomid prescribed by my OB/GYN with no monitoring. It did help lengthen my cycles, which were too short and helped me O later. I am now seeing an RE and am on 100 mg of Clomid with monitoring. I had a nice follicle this time and am in the TWW. I would agree to take it at night but I still had some hot flashes/overall am generally warmer during Clomid cycles. Best of luck to you!!!

I started with 50mg of Clomid in June with self-monitoring (OPK's and charting) only. I ovulated late the first cycle - around CD18, and then on round 2 of 50mg, did not ovulate. I recently started my third cycle on Clomid, but this time around I'm on 100mg - keeping my fingers crossed that the increased dosage will help. Like some of the other ladies, I take the Clomid right before I go to bed at night, so I've never had any issues with side effects. Good luck!

When i was on clomid, i got pregnant the second month. I was warned I would ovulate a little late (i was on the 50mg dosage) and I ovulated around days 16/7 for the most part. I didn't have any negative side effects with it.

Started with 50mg, didn't ovulate. Then the next month I was on 100mg and I ovulated CD20. I had a lot of early pregnancy symptoms in the two week wait though. A lot of people said that was normal with clomid. So every month I was convinced I was pregnant.

New bee here, coming out of lurking. I will start on 100 mg of Clomid in a few days for my first medicated cycle (with IUI) and will update later.

i did 3 cycles of clomid + iui - none successful. not really sure why i did clomid - i guess it was just the "first step"... but i think it's more for people who don't ovulate or something - like a super ovulator. i ovulate fine, but went with it anyway. i did develop some cysts, but they went away. and there are risks, which is why i didn't do more than 3 cycles.
i have no idea why it didn't work. i did get good eggs - 2, 2, 3. ivf worked, so it must be that the eggs and sperm weren't getting together or something.
