Does anyone know if novocain or nitrous oxide affect breastmilk? I'll be getting a root canal on Monday and will have both. I plan on storing a few bottles just case (especially for during or just after my procedure) so my husband can feed her. I will need to pump or feed her when the procedure is over though.

@mediagirl: i got a root canal done a few months ago while I was still nursing! You should be fine.

Your dentist should know. My optometrist stopped me from getting my eye pressure checked because he wd have to give me drops that can infiltrate the breast milk. So interesting. Glad he knew his stuff.

They told me I could take the (novocaine) shots no problem because it stays local. I didn't get nitrous, so I don't know.
