Does your daycare require a deposit? The place we are considering taking our baby requires a deposit of 2 weeks worth of daycare to register plus registration fees and they hold that deposit until your child leaves the daycare. Is that normal for a daycare to do that? Did you have to pay a deposit and how much was it?

Yep, a $500 deposit which is roughly 2 weeks worth of service.

Most of the daycares around here charge $175 for their deposit and "application (aka: bull honkey) fee." The one we found does not charge a fee. I am not sure I'd be able to handle a 2 week deposit PLUS registration fees!!

I am using an in-home day care provider so there weren't any registration fees, but there was a one week deposit when I agreed to take the slot.

Yes. The ones we’ve talked to are willing to put LO on their wait-list without a fee, but will need a deposit once we decide on the daycare in order to hold her spot. To be honest, I have not asked what exactly the deposit will be

We had to pay a deposit and registration fee...I forget how much, I think 300ish in total?

Oh I see.. I was just surprised when they told me we wouldnt get the deposit back until the child leaves the daycare.

@Mrsbells: yes, i believe i had to put down one month tuition which was $1900. they hold the deposit until the child leaves and you need to give one month notice if you are leaving the daycare or else they keep the money.

$100 application fee, no deposit. First week due first day.

Mine was the same. 2 weeks deposit, you get it back when your child leaves.
