Just wondering if pregnancy affected your milk supply or nursing relationship? Not pregnant now but wondering for the future what changes I should expect or how DS will react.

Yes. It was interesting, because with as old as Ellie was she kept me informed of changes. My milk changed in taste first, and then dried up completely by about 12 weeks or so. She continued to nurse for comfort, and then when I started to get colostrum later in the pregnancy (maybe 25 weeks?).

So far I notice no changes but I am only 7 weeks. I assume I will dry up eventually. I'm actually hoping A weans within the next few months.

@Mrs. Twine: That is interesting! I wonder how a younger child would respond to the changes if they cannot communicate as well. Did Ellie continue to nurse throughout your entire pregnancy as often? I also wonder if that is typical for milk to dry up in the beginning.

For some children it is unpleasant, and may encourage or hasten weaning. Other children don't seem to care. She nursed until just a few weeks before Lorelei was born. She last nursed some time in February, and Lorelei was born the end of March. The frequency didn't change, although we were down to just bedtime and maybe once or twice during the day. Having milk dry up in the beginning is fairly common from my understanding. It seems like people with older nurslings are more likely to experience it, but I don't know if I am speaking from a skewed sample, or if that really is representative.

I wasn't nursing, but I was pretty engorged and leaking pretty bad for weeks postpartum, until my AF showed back up...then it stopped completely.
I've heard of it being common, though.
