My boobs are killing me today....day 2 of decreased nursing and no pumping. Maybe I should ice them?

@autumnlove: I wanted to ask you how you were doing w/ your weaning. I was having clogged ducts every day that I tried to skip a session - so painful!

@BabyBoecksMom: Yesterday was fine and my boobs felt normal ...but I am so engorged and in pain today! I'm also so sad about weaning!
Are you taking anything for the pain?

pump them a little bit to relieve engorgement, but not til empty. i gradually stopped over 2 weeks -- pumped a little bit less and went longer and longer in between -- and didn't have any problems.

@autumnlove: I'm so sad too!!! I thought it would be a lot easier to stop because it would mean that I'm done w/ the pump, but I really want to keep going. We're going on a 5-day trip w/o DD in 8 weeks, so I want to be done by then because it's going to be too hard to try to pump and keep the milk.
I'm not taking anything for the pain. I decided that dropping an entire session was not going to work, so I'm pumping about 1/2 oz less than I normally would at each session. So far that's been working and isn't too painful. I make sure to really massage the breast while pumping to make sure that the milk flows and (hopefully) doesn't clog.

Take a hot shower and hand express enough to relieve the pressure.
