Anyone have an experience with not being able to nurse for a feeding ? My 5 am feeding, milk was nowhere to be found. I had the warm, tingling let down feeling and everything. I even tried pumping and nothing was happening. Very stressful for this FTM.

How long had it been since you last emptied your breast? If LO is cluster feeding every hour sometimes I'll feel empty but there's always SOME milk in there we just have to really work for it (her sucking and me compressing). If it gets too stressful I just give her a bottle of previously pumped milk so she gets a full belly that will hold her for a while and give me a chance to fill back up. For us the few times this has happened its always been in the evening during a growth spurt.

I had pumped a few hours before. DH bottle fed him the late evening feed. We ended up giving him a bottle but I had no idea why I had no milk (other than a drip or two) when I usually fill up and have to express beforehand.

How old is your LO? And this might sound silly but how could you tell you had no milk?
Baby will always be much more efficient than a pump at removing milk so pump output isn't always a good indication of supply and the fact that you could still feel letdown would point to your milk ejection reflex being ok.
I know this stuff is stressful but hang in there!

He is 2 weeks old. I use a shield and usually have to catch milk before he nurses and there was no milk to be found. I tried both sides. My supply was back this morning though. I was just freaking out because I usually have plenty.

Your supply could be starting to regulate which could explain the change, can you usually hear LO swallowing when feeding?
If Baby was happy at the breast and having audible swallows than chances are he was getting milk
