I recently saw dish soap specifically for items that come into contact with breast milk ??? I've just been using the Palmolive pure and clear for LO bottles and pump cleaning - should I be using this special stuff ??

Yet another post that you started that I was wondering the same thing, ha.
I got some "baby" dish soap but haven't used it yet.

I am wondering this myself. I have been using the medela cleaning stuff but wonder if its a waste of money? It does a great job, but maybe something else works just as well?

I use regular dish soap with warm water and then I sanitize once a week.

@dagret: @hellobeeboston: sometimes when I wash and dry I will notice a slight film on the inside of bottles. I always figured I didn't rinse well and would re wash. Now I'm wondering if it is because I'm not using the proper soap !!!

@coacheswife123: do you use a bottle brush? With the brush and medela soap & hit water there is never a film... I also do the steam bags a few times a week.

I guess I'm a terrible mommy... I just use regular dish soap for all of Sadie's things. haha

@photojane: no you aren't ! I still think part of my problem is not rinsing well because its not every time just every now and then. Weird !!

We were given dawn or Palmolive regular soap in the NICU....if its good enough for them then its good enough for me!

@coacheswife123: I actually use cheapy dish soap, but I wash with the water as hot as my hands can stand, and I think that helps.

@dagret: I got some Medela steam bags too... cheap & way easier than boiling!

Hmmm I never even thought about this. I've just been using regular dish soap.

The lc in the hospital said the Medela rep actually recommended Johnson's baby shampoo. So that's what I've always used for pump parts.

@Mrs Green Grass: That is really interesting!
We used Dawn but boiling was part of our routine as well.

I use dish soap but switched to a "soft hands" variety because my hands were so dry and chapped. I found that boiling leaves a film on my stuff - maybe because we have hard water? I use a microwave steam tray that I like.

I use Mrs. Myers dish soap. I never thought about using something baby-specific... and those steam bags sound great! I've never used them but I also get a film when I boil pump parts.

We originally used regular Dawn or Seventh Generation but I tried Dapple and found that it really did work well on bottles and pump parts for getting the milk and such off better so we started using Dapple for baby things. I really don't think you can go wrong.

I used Dapple Baby products with a bottle brush and loved them. I also wiped with the Medela Wipes in between pumping sessions, and used the steam bags pretty frequently. Those things were a lifesaver.
