DS is one now. Do I just stop the formula cold turkey when it runs out? I'm not ready to totally bottle wean but I don't know if it'sbetter to continue with formula as long as he is getting a bottle or transition to whole milk in his bottle (I've heard that makes it harder to get rid of the bottles and to teach them that milk goes in a sippy...) So many mixed messages!!

We were on formula around 9 months so I was totally ready to stop buying it! We just went cold turkey probably a week after her first birthday? Warm cows milk in straw cup.. Never looked back!

@travellingbee: we did the bot tle to cup transition first, then the whole milk transition. But it was pumped milk, not formula, so if I were you I think I would make the switch!
We did a few days of 75%/25%, then 50/50, then 25/75 before the full switch but I don't know if it was necessary.

That's what we did, with no issues. LO never noticed the difference between formula and milk, in any kind of cup/bottle.

We did half milk, half formula in the bottle for a few days then gradually switched to all milk, he didn't mind. Transitioning to fewer bottles and then from the bottle to sippy/straw cups was harder, we did a lot of milk mixed with water and trial and error on which cups he liked (nuby with moving straw was the favorite)

We titrated formula/milk in the bottle over about 4 days. Then straight milk, only in sippies, at 12 mo. No bottles after that. It went fine.
