I am generally pretty easy-going about things but I really don't like being called just "dad" by my kids' teachers!
If you're not sure what my name is or what to call me, why don't you just avoid saying my name like I did with my mother in law for the first six years of marriage ha. (Now that we have kids, I call her Grandma.)
Do the teachers at your school refer to you as "mom" (or "dad")? Or do they refer to by name (or avoid saying any names at all)?

No, they refer to us as Mr. or Mrs. last name.
If they know us a bit better they will use our first names.

We've only gone to daycare for 3 weeks, but I don't think DS's teacher has every addressed us! At dropoff, his teacher will tell him to tell "mommy goodbye".

They don't really address me. They refer to me as "M's mommy" in the third person ie "Look everyone, M's mommy is here to pick her up". I don't really have strong feelings about what they call me as long as it's not "hey @sshole" or something like that 
ETA I know they know our names because the call my husband by his name when they talk to me about him and vice versa.

I'm called Mom or M's Mom. I don't mind it but it does make me feel like I'm not important. That's silly, though. They're JUST daycare teachers...but I do hope when we get to kindergarten and above they call me Mrs. Last Name.

They call me either by first name or Mrs. I wouldn't like it either... It would make me wonder why they couldn't make the effort to know and say my name. Also i have been at thr school for 5yr. they better know it, haha.. They do call me mom at the pediatrician's office though. I don't mind since there are so many different ppl to interact with there.

Everyone called me Andrea at daycare, but now they call me mom at school. I have been wondering if they know my name. It has been bugging me, too, and I am also easy going about most things!

@MamaMoose: third person references as "____'s dad" definitely don't bother me!
@mediagirl: Yah maybe that's it... I feel like they're openly saying that they're not gonna make an effort at all. I taught a class a few years ago and had to memorize everyone's names, faces majors and life goals in the first few weeks!
I guess the extra factor here is that our school is constantly asking us to volunteer and donate items! So we're at the school helping out pretty regularly... oh well, the more I write about this, the less I care I guess. Thanks for letting me vent a bit here!

Hmm, I wonder if my patients parents don't like when I call them mom or dad. I always call them that. I think I will start using Mr. or Mrs. Lastname... that gets awkward too though because sometimes that's not their last name!

That would be awkward. I'm not sure I'd like that either. I think Ms. last name would be my preference. But as a nanny I think I do this. I don't call them mom/dad if I'm addressing them myself but if I'm speaking for the LO I do, "mama is going to work. Bye mama!"

Also, I only know the grandparents by their assigned grandparent name. Which is a little awkward too.

They call me by my first name. Although they call me "Xander's Mom" when talking to other people, or they'll say "Mom's here!" when talking to Xander. But when talking to me, they say my name.

In the hospital I hate it when my residents call parents mom and dad. Call them by their name or don't call them anything!

@mrbee: Yes we got called "mom" and "dad". I actually liked it until I realize the other kids start calling me "mom" too. Now I am unsure. My son probably thinks all women are "mom"s and all men are "dad"s. Now I know why he just point at random men and say dad?
And OMG. You are like me in terms of avoiding to refer to my in-laws!!! hahahahaha! I thought I was the weird one. Now I call them grandma and grandpa. But before that, I just avoid that.

The director calls me "mama" and her teacher calls me by my first name or Mrs. last name.

I used to be a teacher and I'd generally avoid saying a name at all unless I knew the parent well. If I was talking about the parent to the class I'd say "So-and-So's Mom".
I felt like saying Mr. or Mrs. was complicated for two reasons. Firstly, I can't assume that they have the same last name as the kid. And secondly, I felt like that would make me sound like I was a kid.
I also avoided first names (with the exception of a few) because I had a hard time remembering all of them. (I had around 50 students.)

It's usually 'G's mom or dad,' when they are talking to G about us, but if they are talking directly to us, they call us by name.
@mrbee: Hah, on year 3 of marriage and I avoid calling my MIL/FIL by name...I never know how to refer to them, so I just...don't

They call us by our first names. Or if they're talking to other children, they'll refer to us as "X's mommy" or "X's daddy". They have all of the kids take a picture and they put it up on the wall, along with their birthdays and names of the parents. So they all knows all of the parents names. I don't think I'd like to be called just "mom" either.

@Mrs. Jacks: EVERYONE at the nicu does this to me! I guess then you don't have to remember a whole bunch of names? It was annoying at first but now I'm used to it. The first few days I never knew when anyone was trying to talk to me because they would just say "mom?"

At daycare: First Names
At school: Mr./Mrs. Last Name
Pediatrician/Dentist: Mom/Dad
While "Mom" isn't my favorite, I don't mind it. In medical offices it might be used because it's usually in the presence of our children, and that's how they refer to us?

Last year the teacher called me by my first name. I was also room parent and became very close to her. She addressed my husband as "dad" though. This year the teacher calls me mama. I don't think she knows my name. Most of the time she doesn't address me at all so I don't really mind.

We get a mix at our daycare. If they are talking to us it is a first name basis. If they are talking in general it is LO's mom or dad. Some teachers I don't see too often and they just call me mom.

I get called "mom" at the pediatrician's office. I'm guessing its because too many kids don't have the same last name as their moms and dads!
Nurse: "Ok mom, hold her leg here" while they are giving her a shot or something.

I teach pre-k and I call the parents either Mr/Mrs ____ or by their first names (depending on how well I know them- small town, so I've known some parents before I was their child's teacher).

Honestly can't remember what daycare calls me, but the medical assistant and other on call peds at LO's checkups or sick visits just call me "mom." As in, "mom, hold his elbow while I give him a shot." I dislike it, and sometimes I've asked them to call me by my first name. Sometimes I don't have the energy.

We don't have school, but for extracurriculars and appointments we always get mom and dad. The lack of personalization is a bit of a bummer, but I think back to my teaching days and I did it as I was trying to learn names.
