Maybe I should get one!? Our dog is no longer interested in eating stuff off the floor!

Yeah, we have a makeshift plastic mat of sorts under the high chair. Our dining room is carpeted, so it would be really hard to clean up after meals if DD's food landed on the carpet.

we got one on amazon b/c our dining room is also carpeted. It makes a big difference for cleanup even though not everything stays on the carpet.
this is the one we have i think:

Yes! Bought one at Babies R Us and it comes in so handy, because our dining room is carpeted as well. I clean and vacuum the mat everyday, but it's way better than scrubbing stains out of carpet

No, but we have tile and a very food motivated dog. Messes don't last long in our house.

No. Lo doesn't throw that much anymore..... Knock on wood.

We aren't to that point yet, I hope we don't need one. We have hardwoods though.

We have hardwood so I don't see a point in having a splat mat. Either way you're cleaning something and splat mats aren't cheap!

Thanks! We have tile in our kitchen but carpet in our dining room!

i actually just ordered one! I'll let you know what I think. I think at least it's going to be easier to clean a splat mat than the hard wood floor.

I just put 2-3 place mats underneath her high chair, which works really well! Those splash mats are definitely not cheap.

@Clementine: Oooh ok! Maybe I can use a old bedsheet?
persimmon / 1329 posts
@autumnlove: you def could but that also involves more laundry. I rather just wipe up a smooth mat then add one more thing I need to launder.

I need to get one, DD likes to throw her food around and we have a huge area rug in our dining room. Nothing like stepping into scrambled eggs in the morning.

Luckily LO isn't too messy of an eater so no splat mat for us. I just have to make sure to sweep under the table everyday. He has been caught finding food and eating it off the floor

Ha, no. We have a Labrador = piggiest pig dog ever. My dog is shaking her head at your dog in disgust.

@bree72: LOL, my dog is such a wussy...LO threw her sippy cups at him a few times and now he won't get near the high chair!

@autumnlove: Ha, welll better safe than sorry, I guess. It would take a few times of being stabbed with a steak knife for my dog to give up trying. I will say, I am so thankful not to have to clean up after my son, though. He is messy!

I think we'll get one, currently we have dried kiwi and avocado stuck to the floor that I really need to soak/scrub up. It'd be so much easier to clean up a mat !!!

I had one, but we have hardwood floors so it's easier to just wipe the floor down.

@autumnlove: Been using it for a week and I really like it. Sometimes, I can just lift the mat and toss all the dried food bits that fell off the floor into the trash bin. Even wiping up wet messes are so much easier bc of the smooth surface. I mean it's not essential, but it does make my life easier.

@Clementine: Which one did you buy? I haven't ordered one yet!
