At my daughters elementary school there is ONE male teacher. ONE! So they have a program where fathers, uncles, grandfathers volunteer for the day to have more of a male presence in school.

There used to be a male teacher in one of the preschool rooms, but he moved away. DD is still in the toddler room so we never had him as a teacher. The teachers are now all female, although there is a male cook and the musician who comes in every week is also a guy.

The KE teacher use to be male but he left and now its a female - DS had him, he was awesome and all the kids loved him!
In the summer they do have 1 male teacher which again all the kids love. Def a huge lack of men!

Dh volunteers at DS's school 1 time a month and the teacher said the kids love it when dads come because its usually always moms -

LO started out with a male teacher at the beginning of the school year. His original teacher put in her notice two weeks before the start of school, and they were in a scramble to find a replacement. He only lasted 3 weeks and stepped down due to responsibilities at home. He was an interested teacher with different teaching methods. Definitely not traditional, and it was hard to get on board.

At daycare, the assistant in my son's class is male, I think he's only 18 or 19. I find it really interesting, because he's doing 9 months of compulsory civic service instead of 6 months of compulsory military service. I've seen a number of young men working with daycare kids when the kids are at the park or on field trips, and I assume most of them are also doing their civic service.

None at the daycare. There has been one in the past of the afterschool older kids program. And at the elementary? As far as I know there is only one - the art teacher.

ETA: There are a couple of males for the after school program at the elementary, but none for my daughters age.

Yep, in the preschool rooms. There are also male student workers there.

None. But her gymnastics coach is male.

2 help out in the early mornings and the other does gym.

Yep! I think there are 4 plus the cook is a man. It's actually one of the reasons we went with out daycare!

There's one guy at the interim daycare where we'll send my son until a spot opens up at my work daycare. He works with the 2 year olds. He's the only one I saw at the 5 daycares we toured.

My husband and I often talk about how we actually think that men are more limited in career possibilities than women are these days. There are tons of professions that have very few men or that men get ridiculed for choosing (early education, nursing, admin). It's something we worry about for our son.

I've worked at 4 preschools/daycares and there have only been 2 males!

DH is a 3rd grade teacher and there's only one other male teacher at his school.

There was one who was a middle school teacher before he had kids. He was a SAHD/pt preschool school teacher when his kids were younger and now he is back to teaching FT.

There's definitely one, and he's in her room.

Two. One I am not fond of because I think he is too young (early 20's). He works with 3 year olds but some of the mom's of girls in the classroom's have said to me they don't feel comfortable with him handling bathroom issues if they need help. Another guy is also in the 3's for early care and he has worked there for at least 4 years and the kids love him.
