Ours does. I guess so it gets them used to washing their hands after they go to the bathroom.

That's a good idea. Do they actually wash in the sink or use a wipe?

Oh noooooooo!!! I'm trapped in I'm-a-dirty-mummy-who-never-washes-her-baby's-hands hell!! I've never done this!! I've no idea if daycare do - probably, knowing them!

Yes, ours does - I was so impressed! I think it may be a state requirement though. It makes a lot of sense since babies can easily get poop on their hands during a diaper change, and it cuts down in general on daycare germs.
@Cherrybee: i never do at home! Just use wipes on her hands if I think she was touching a soiled area of herself or the diaper during the change.

Yes! The sink is right at the end of the changing table. It's habit forming and they often like to get their hands inside the diaper during the change.
Now that we are using the potty, LO naturally knows that she washes or santizes her hands afterward.

At the daycare I work at we are required to wash their hands after each diaper change. The only exception is if an infant is too young and doesn't have head control but then you need to use a wipe on their hands.
@Cherrybee: Don't worry! I work at a daycare and know all these regulations, but I don't do it at home! I guess my kids are a little dirty… I'm just trying to build their immune system, right?

@swedishfish: Sink. They just rinse with water.
@Cherrybee: We don't at home either. I keep thinking we do and then I don't.

They use our cloth wipes for the baby and LO washes her own hands at the mini sink.

Yes. Sink with some water and then dry with a paper towel. I think its to help build the habit but also so that the child's hands are clean after sitting on a dirty diaper changing station.

Yes. They wash after diaper changes, before and after meals, and at other times too. Our daughter loves washing her hands at the kid-sized sink in her daycare room. Unfortunately, it makes her hands extremely dry in the winter.

Oh that's a good idea. I definitely do NOT wash my kid's hands unless she tries to grab something.

When DD was at a daycare center, they did this even with the itty bitty babies. Our sitter doesn't do this with DS to my knowledge.
I don't know that it really helps teach them to wash after going to the bathroom because DD did it for the 2.5 years she was in daycare and now at almost 4 (potty trained for almost 1.5 years) it is a battle to get her to wash her hands after going to the bathroom.

This is a fantastic idea! I like the idea of at least rinsing his hands off to get him in a good routine. I think we'll be adding that to our diaper changes.

I'm in the minority, but they don't. I think they do wipe her hands down though, with a wipe.
