Ours closes at 4pm today and honestly I'm not thrilled about it. I'm a financial advisor so year end is a big deal around here. It's really not convenient to have to leave early. Plus, NYE is a party holiday (as opposed to a holiday where people are traditionally spending time with family) so I really don't see why the day care staff needs to get out early.

Our daycare has been closed since the 19th. I've been off work since then also, but go back on Thursday...not thrilled about having to take off work while paying for daycare and it's closed.

@locavore_mama: His work is much farther from day care so he would have to leave much earlier than me in order to get there by 4 so it doesn't really make sense to have him do it. I can always log back on from home tonight if necessary. I'm just annoyed on principal : )

Yea they close at 3 pm. I wish they wouldn't but at least the are open for most of the day. DH went in early to make up the extra time and he will go get her.
I agree that its a party holiday.

Ours has been closed since Dec 24th - reopen Jan 2nd - and yep we still have to pay

@MamaMoose: Working at night after LO is down is the only way I have been able to meet deadlines and work load demands lately (ETA: and that's not likely to change for a loooooong time). Hopefully for you, if it is necessary, it will only be necessary for a very short period of time!

Mine has been closed since Christmas Eve and it will reopen on Jan 2nd.

My daycare situation is the same as matador84...unfortunately we have to pay even during the days they are closed. Two weeks in the Summer and two during the winter.
Luckily I have my mom to help out when I need to work. -
We haven't had day care since before Christmas. Working from home with 2 kids today... Not much work getting done!

@locavore_mama: isn't that so dumb?! I work in the school district so they follow that schedule, but a ton of parents don't and I have no idea what they do!! They just messed up the schedule this year because they thought school wouldn't start until Monday and we go back on Thursday, thus DH is taking a day off and I'm taking the other day off.
It totally sucks double for me since I only have 8 days of PTO and am taking 6-8 weeks maternity leave with docked pay each day I'm gone. The last thing I want to do is be taking days off, paying for daycare anyway and them being closed!

I don't know. Yesterday they closed at 3 because all of the other kids went home, so I had to go pick my son up early. I suspect it will be the same today. I am not looking forward to it because I have my friends baby today and still have class prep to do.

@MamaMoose: I totally know what you mean about this time of year being really busy. I took time off last week but still ended up working through my "vacation". I have to work today but luckily i can work from home and DH can deal with her in the afternoon.
