Nope and don't plan to send her to one but the nieces (husband's side) do and it has been wonderful for them!

We plan on sending our LO to one. I used to teach at a Montessori school. Love the educational model!

We are a Montessori family. It's been amazing and we're excited that M will attend in the fall!

My kids have been in a Montessori school since 5 months old and we plan to keep them until Kindergarten. It's been an amazing journey so far and we especially love the community of teachers and parents we are a part of!

The best daycare in our area is a Montessori center, so our son has been there for almost 5 months (he started around 15 weeks). We love it so far & I'd like to keep him there until 1st grade (they have a kindergarten classroom).

My husband and I are montessori people, and we have a montessori house. My mother in law is a retired montessori teacher, and she's going to run a preschool for my daughter and a few friends next year when she turns three. I am so, so lucky.

I'm so intrigued by montessori because of the blog posts on here! I definitely want to look into a montessori preschool for my lo when she turns two or three ... but I'm wondering if starting her then is actually late since technically it's open to infants?

We'll be sending our (future) children to a Montessori preschool (3-6 years) but the closest Montessori school to us is an hour commute so I don't think it's likely we'll continue.

In my late night haze, I read the title of the post as Monster school and actually got super excited. Monster school? Really? Awesome! Then Inreread the title and realized it said Montessori... Oops! No, we don't but I think it would be fun to if we could afford it.

@T-Mom: @mewtill: you're so lucky that yours has infant care! I wish there was one by me.
@rrachael: My daughter is 3 and just started. I hope it's not too late!

@Andrea: I guess I'm worried about it being late since they have infant care too ... So then all her classmates might be veteran Montessori kiddos while she's still learning the drill? It's probably a silly concern and since yours doesn't have infant care then it def. Won't effect your lo!

@Mrs. Jacks: oh wow! That's early! I've never heard of an 18 mos old in Montessori. The ones in my area start at age three

@Mrs. Pen: The Early Childhood Education program starts at age 3, but there is often a toddler program that starts between 15-18 months. In our case, we didn't want to send M until she had more words to express herself, so we decided to wait until 18 months to send her.
It will be so nice when both girls are in school!

She was going to, but long story short, we had to pull her out for next school year I'm pretty sad about it, but it is best for the whole family. I'm sure she will flourish in whatever school she attends.

@rrachael: You'll be surprised at how helpful and kind the veteran kids are at helping new kids integrate. Lala has taken a new little boy under her wings in the last few months and it's been so cute to see them work together!

@rrachael: I think kids enter the program at an older age all the time. I bet there will be a mix of "veterans" and rookies when your daughter starts!
@Andrea: We do feel so lucky! They talk to the babies about their "work", they eat at a small table with real utensils, and the lead teachers are all Montessori trained. It's a really positive, respectful place

@rrachael: @Mrs. Pen: @Mrs. Jacks: ours starts at 18 months, too. I can't wait to send DD2 there, too!

@rrachael: @Andrea: Definitely don't worry about it being too late! DD has friends at school who started when they were 3 in Early Childhood, and they fit right in just fine. And the whole point of Montessori is to follow the child, so no one is ever "behind". Your LOs will do great!

Montessori education is a life long thing - starting in preschool is absolutely not too late! If you want to start sooner, you can always look into having a montessori house/part of your house. We've done so and it has been such a positive thing for my daughter - I just love it.

Lo starts in the fall in a 2 year old toddler half day program. It gives him priority for the preschool.

Montessori is also about lifestyle, not just what happens in school. We do some Montessori style activities at home which perfectly complement his traditional play based day care.
