Some type of room that would replace outdoor recess if the weather were not good? My LO mentions going to the "RT" room on rainy days which has slides, scooters, balls etc. She seems to really like it, it's not very big (not even close to a gym) but just an extra room with space to run around and play. I think it's a nice alternative!

Yup, it's their gym/lunch room. Being in Upstate Ny it's pretty much a must!

Yep, but they're still the infants technically so I don't think they go there yet.

Yup, they call it "the enrichment room". It's also where they have their big presentations when there is a magic show or an animal guest, etc.

DD's preschool is in an elementary school so they get to use the gym. DS has a toddler indoor playground and a "gross motor skills" gym.

They have a playspace, it's technically the museum, but it's pretty cool.

Yes, M just calls it the big room.
It has lots of stuff for when they can't go outside. -
I wish, but no. When LO was at a small church day care, they used the fellowship hall, but not at her new preschool.

Our old daycare had a studio space and an indoor playspace. Our new one doesn't. I'm a little sad about that, but I'm sure that they're prepared for the weather and how to entertain them during winter.

Not really, but the classrooms are big and they do yoga and physical activities inside when it's nasty out and take walks around the building. They still go outside when it's raining and snowing, as long as it's not a huge storm or blizzard. They don't have bikes/scooters outside either; just slides/equipment/huge sandbox, etc.

LO's former daycare had a big traditional gym. It was based in a church so it's a typical church gym. There isn't a lot of fancy equipment but they do have a little slide, scooters, balls and other "gross motor" toys. I believe it is required by the state to have a separate place for exercise and play so they can have that time everyday regardless of the weather.
