Just got a call that a water main broke and according to NY State law they have to close down. Therefore the kids have to be picked up ASAP!
Anyone else ever had a emergency day care closing?!

Yup! The AC units at ours were stolen over a weekend and they didn't know until it wasn't cooling off inside (they're out back and there's no parking or anything back there) so we had to go pick him up bc it was supposed to get up to 90-100* that day. Luckily my boss was understanding. Good luck!!!

Whoah! Hope everything is going to be ok... our day care was closed for two days once due to leaks in the roof, but we did get a few days notice.

Our daycare didn't have power one morning! Luckily it was restored quickly!

Oh yeah! There was a gas leak or bomb threat at the doctor's office next door so they had to evacuate the kids and we all got called to pick them up (well kinda). I got to baby sit all afternoon cause it was a working Friday for all of my friends.
Then there was the day a crazy was driving around taking pot shots around town and all the schools went on lock down and school got cancelled (it hadn't really opened yet).
Fridays are just not good around here.

@locavore_mama: Yeah my little town is a little weird. It was scary for us because we live next to a school and got to hear the lock down sirens. And of course the only news is on facebook. But my son didn't even notice anything was different. He was a trooper both times.

I used to work at daycare when I was in a volunteer program after college. One time there was a gas leak and we had to evacuate 200 kids during naptime, in winter!
Another time there was a HUGE, EPIC snowstorm. They left us off the phone tree and my housemate walked to the bus stop, waited for almost an hour in a storm (the buses weren't running) before figuring they were probably closed!
