LO is almost 6 months and I my research is leading me towards Weston A. Price foundation type diet. DH and I have been paleo for three years so it seems to make sense for us. I'd love to hear any bees experiences starting solids this way.

We started LO on runny egg yolks, chicken livers, fermented cod liver oil, and sardines. He loved them all in the beginning, then got bored of them, so we had to take a break from them, but he always LOVES his cod liver oil.....go figure.

We started my son mostly paleo. We did baby led weaning and he loves meat. He is a true carnivore. We found freeze dried fruit to be a great addition to snack time because it melts like puffs. He definitely has veggie preferences but eats more than I do. I think you can do it if you want. Just offer lots of varied options. I don't know if you are dairy free, but he didn't have any dairy until he was 18 months old.

@cranberryapple: Oh yay, glad to hear someone has done it. DH is on board but I think he thinks it's a little kooky. I have a couple questions if you don't mind. Is there anything you didn't like about starting with these foods? What did you introduce when he got tired of those foods? Did you feed LO unflavored CLO?

@brownie: Did you do meat or animal proteins before vegetables and fruits or after? I do better dairy free and LO doesn't seem to react well to dairy (I haven't tried raw) so I'm still conflicted about it. We have a while before I need to decide.
Thanks for the tip on the freeze dried fruits.

@Corduroy: we did meat first. At six months old I have a picture of him sucking on some chicken and disneyland. We didn't really do phased food he just got whatever we ate.

Nothing we didn't like cuz we already ate that way as well....I'd even eat his leftovers or stuff he tossed to the floor. I spoon-fed the runny yolk, but everything else, we let him feed himself. I also gave him bone broth occasionally. Let's seee....what did we feed him when he got tired of.....avocados, sweet potatoes, and sardines......somehow, I'm not recalling, so probably whatever we ate that he was able to handle, though I'm pretty sure he didn't eat much in general. He was still nursing quite a bit. There was a period of time when I honestly couldn't name a favorite food of his (other than cod liver oil...Hahaha) cuz he was so darn picky! (I was kinda a meanie and didn't let him have too much fruit, but I knew he would LOVE that.....also, I make coconut flour muffins/bread and I know he loves that too because it's sweet - which is why I limit those too!)
I try a lot of ground beef recipes, he loves chicken, but.....omg, NOT vegetables! Okay okay, I admit, I don't LOVE them either, so I probably don't make them enough...or at least in the format that he can handle. He'll try everything, thankfully, but it's very obvious when he's not into something, meaning it ends up on the floor. Grrrrrr. I really need to work on the veggies though! I do add lotsa butter to them, but I need to eat them more myself.
We started off giving him the ginger-flavored cod liver oil, but it was only because I had bought it for myself and HATED it and wanted to get rid of it.....Hahaha....but nowadays, he gets the unflavored kind, so I recommend you start with that! It's cheaper and less additives in it! (I can't do the unflavored one though....my taste buds are already set!)
I let DS drink from my cup of raw milk yesterday for the first time ever and though I was only sharing, he finished half of it in one sitting....he has NEVER drank that much water at a time! LOL
