I'm having a hard time finding nursing tops (apart from the nursing tank top). What are some of your favorite going out nursing friendly tops?

I just buy v neck shirts and pull down. Or a loose shirt over a tank to pull up, or button downs. I have small boobs though, so I think it's easier to pull one out and nurse without having a lot showing. Scarves help cover up, too, without the bulk of a cover. My kid won't tolerate blankets over her head.

I hated all my nursing tops from gap and old navy!

NONE OF THEM.
Here's the issue: pull them down enough times and they stretch too much. And the type that had a flap were really weird and would king of bust open when I was engorged. I got 2 from motherhood and 3-4 from Old Navy and hated them all.
My advice: stick to button down tops or ones with snaps. And wear either a nursing cami underneath or a stretchy tank top, or nothing at all if it isn't see-through.
Here are some examples of things I wish I had bought (button down, spacious for PP belly and cute!)

I've never worn any nursing tops besides nursing tanks under things. Everything button-down is great - especially chambray shirts (yay for Fall season!) I bought a of button-down tanks and shirts - seems to be in abundance this year! I usually wear a nursing tank underneath, just unbutton the top and unsnap the tank or bra. Very minimally exposed even if I don't use a cover.

I wear Old Navy tami tabks under my regular clothes. They're soft and cheap and they pull down easily. They retain their shape really well.

I don't think they exist. I just bought a bunch of cardigans to wear with them. But I guess that won't work in Texas.

I wore Bravado nursing tanks - pricier but slimming, supportive and seamless. Like pp shapewear, amazing. I wore them under everything.
I was also not a fan of pulling down tops. They'd stretch out the neckline, ruin the shirt and look terrible. I had a lot of henleys, cardigan sweaters and flowy shirts with long cardigans. The bravado cover your belly but I'd wrap the cardigan over us while nursing like a blanket. Long tissue scarves were good like that too.

Same as @Pepper! I just wear an Old Navy tami or similar tank under whatever I am wearing. Pull the top shirt up and the tami down and there you go! Or sometimes I just wear a cardigan over the tank now that it is cooling off.

@rachiecakes: I have a black Bravado nursing tank and my nips show through the tank! I don't wear a nursing pad because they make my boobs itch.
@TurtleDoves: Thanks for those samples!! I'll have to go shopping and pick a few of those up!
Thanks ladies for the recommendations on cardigans and button down shirts! Shopping time!

I have two (both from Motherhood) and I pretty much never wear them. I've found it's so much easier to just wear a nursing tank under a regular top. Pull up the top and unclip the tank to nurse. That way I'm not limited in the types of tops I can wear.

@Alivoo01: you're right! I forgot about that. With thin shirts I wore Lilypadz, otherwise I wore textured tops & sweaters so I didn't show through..
