Does your daycare do field trips for the older kids? Out daycare apparently starts field trips with the 4 year old group. So far this year they have plans to go to a farm and to go to Disney on Ice. Can I please be a chaperone for Disney on Ice!?!??

Our preschool starts field trips with the 3's. I know they'll be visiting a farm and M's excited to go on the bus!

Our preschool just recently did a field trip with the Preschool and Pre-K class (3 and 4 year olds). They went to a theater to see a magic show. I chaperoned. It was fun! 
It also made me feel really comfortable to see how they went about it. They made sure they had enough parents and teachers so every adult was responsible for two kids. And they also made sure all the littles were in 5-point harness car seats.

@Adira: what kind of vehicle did they take? C's preschool does a few field trips, some walking, but some on a school bus that I think just has seat belts. Kind of freaks me out to have three year olds in just a seatbelt even if it's close. I am thinking I might try to chaperone and drive...

@Foodnerd81: The daycare has a "bus", but it's really a 12 passenger van. They installed all the car seats that they could in there and used booster seats for some of the older kids. And then chaperones transported their own kids and if necessary, their kid's buddy. They had parents leave their car seats at the daycare to make sure everyone was transported safely!

@Adira: that's great- although I feel like it must take hours to get everyone in! I just think 3 seems really young for a regular bus.

@Foodnerd81: I agree - 3 would be too young for a real bus I think! And yes, it definitely took a while to get everyone situated! They had to install all the car seats and then get all the kids strapped in. They had all the chaperones arrive an hour before the show so that there was plenty of time to go over the rules, assign buddies, and get everyone in vehicles. But it was a fun outing!

Ours does. They do big trips once a month and smaller trips almost every week. They even take the little ones if you sign them up.

My LO (age 2) has his first field trip on Friday. I was planning to go but they have enough chaperones so I missed the boat on signing up in time. Apparently the bus they have has some sort of flip down seats that have 5 point harnesses. I'm more worried about supervision. I'm also super jealous I'm not going.

Our preschool does field trips for the 3s and 4s (that's all there is at this school). The first one is next month to a pumpkin patch. I'm planning to chaperone.

Yes. LO went on a fieldtrip to the zoo when she was two. So funny- teacher had never taken the littles before. She ended up carrying LO part of the way!! After that no long walks, just short walk fieldtrips.

@Adira: I think I *could* go if I pay and transport myself, etc. But in their defense, I'm super morning sick so I was like maybe this is a sign I should just stay back.... throwing up + supervising toddlers = awkward.

They start at age 16 mo in the junior toddler room. LO's class has gone strawberry picking and is going to the pumpkin patch in a couple weeks. I'm still nervous about the carseats on the bus so DH usually takes time off to go with her.

@Adira: I can hardly handle my 1 toddler these days... hurry up first trimester! haha they are going to Davis Farmland (I think you are close to me sorta so you might know it?) so its not like I can't go there with LO again!

@psw27: AHHH!!! I was literally just there a few weeks ago!! They have this whole area where you can walk around and the goats and chickens are just roaming free! My kids are timid, so they stuck to the stroller most of the time we were there. This picture pretty much sums it up:
