Lo was 5.5 months old. We had peds approval and my lc commented that she was ready because she was reaching for food. She was sitting up sort of on her own. We started with oatmeal cereal and then went to sweet potato.

We attempted to give Xander sweet potatoes at 6 months, but he wanted nothing to do with it. I tried a variety of different things over the next month and then finally went to rice cereal around 7 months, which he tolerated. We kept with that until he got more interested and seemed to be into it and then we switched to other fruits and veggies.

I think 4 months we did rice/oat cereal. He didn't like it so I didn't push it.
We did baby food at 6 months. I started with pears, squash, and apples and introduced a new food every 3-4 days or so. Table foods at 7-8 months because he showed interest in our food. Once I did table food, we never went back to baby food.

I started solids at 5.5 months.
My pediatrician recommended starting solids at 4 months, but I was not comfortable with that. LO was sitting independently about when I started.
The first food I introduced was banana, because it is soft and sweet. I introduced a new food every three days. I tried to introduce high allergy foods early, because there is evidence that this reduces the risk of allergies. I did not introduce food in any particular order.
I never gave LO rice cereal. I gave him some cream of wheat cereal pretty early to introduce wheat.
I introduced table food at 9 months, which was when LO became interested in food.

- How old was your LO when you fed them their first solids? On her 6 month birthday

- Did you wait for your Pediatrician's approval or start your LO when they could sit up and seemed interested? Our ped said at her 4 month checkup that we could start whenever we felt like LO was ready. She seemed interested around 5.5 months but we were traveling and then she caught a cold, so we waited until we were home and healthy to start.

-What was your LO first solid food? Oat cereal, avocado, carrots, peas, butternut squash, and bananas (in that order). Next up is pear. So far, she's liked everything except peas.

-Did you stay away from Rice cereal to start? Yep, she still hasn't had it. I feel like oats are somewhat more nutritious, but now that she has more foods in her repertoire, I'm planning to concentrate more on fruits and veggies and only give cereal occasionally -- but I wanted to know that she could tolerate it, so we gave it a try early on.
