What's the etiquette here? So LO goes to an in-home daycare run by two sisters and I was going to get them a gift basket with coffee mugs with an assortment of coffees and teas. I just learned they hired two part-time employees and they started yesterday. Should I get them something (smaller/same thing)? What would you do?

hmmm if it were me i'd probably get them something very small, but since they just started yesterday, i don't think you absolutely have to.

I have a situation where my son has 2 main teachers (2 days a week) and one woman at daycare is his teacher 1 day. So, I think I'm going to give the 1 day teacher something smaller.

I am really worried about this because my LO has several teachers at her daycare. 3 main ladies in the morning and then 3 in the afternoon. Am I supposed to get them all gifts. And what can I get them?

We are doing small gifts because she just started a new classroom that has 3-4 full time teachers and some support staff.

LO has two main care providers, and we are giving them both $25 Target gift cards. The ladies in the older infant room do help out morning/evening, but we figure we will give them a gift sometime in the future when she's in their room full time.

Is the gift basket going to be a shared gift for both sisters? If so, maybe add in a couple more mugs or some chocolate and address to the entire daycare staff?
I do think if you skipped the new people or even gave a token item it would be ok.

My son goes to a home daycare but it's family run (daycare lady, husband and daughter). Plus they hire 2 teachers to come every day. So I plan on giving the family a $100 Trader Joe's gift card (they always shop there) and each of the teachers a $25 Target gift card. Or maybe a box of chocolates/cookies for each of the teachers.
In your case, I think it would still be nice to give the 2 new teachers something small, like a small box of chocolates. It won't cost much but it would be a nice gesture. Plus it never hurts to bribe teachers with goodies. They might give your kid a little bit extra attention.

@crash806: I don't think the two new teachers will expect a gift/be upset that they didn't get anything. You could always give them each a little bag/box of coffee or tea, but no mug.
@Mrsbells: I replied to your other thread. 6 teachers is a lot! I am betting they don't all expect something from you. If you did a mix of $5-$10 gift cards it wouldn't end up being too expensive. I've never compared holiday gifts with other teachers & then been jealous because I got something different/less.
@banana: I know you're joking, but I hope the teachers don't base their attention to kids on gifts the parents give

@mewtill: LOL. I know..that would be horrible, wouldn't it? I would be suspect of those teachers if they took bribes like that!
