Just saw this on CBS. This is an extracurricular club for girls in 6th- 12th grade. One girl said coding is not about being good at math or science, but problem-solving. That's one way to get over a mental hump to learn a skill.

Totally agree that coding is more about problem solving! I'm terrible at math and science these days, but definitely don't need those skills to do my job.
Love this! More girls should get into coding. It's a great profession and pays well.

I think it's important to learn how to code, it's my goal for next year.
My husband codes and he's planning on teaching our son.

I love this organization! As a developer, seeing elementary aged girls getting more assistance with coding is fantastic.

I just read about this... there is a website where you can code with the frozen characters (Anna and Elsa)... it is to encourage girls to code. Boys that are frozen fans can play too! 
Being in the software industry ... I really hope future coding / engineering jobs are more women friendly. Maybe if there were more women in this field it will set better standards. *fingers crossed*

Neat! There was a planet money or freakonomics about female programmers somewhat recently. I learned java in high school but haven't done anything since.
